Corn and soybean are still strategic commodities that support people’s food needs. Rainfed land becomes the foundation for the development of corn and soybean. Crop intercropping system (Turiman) is an alternative of planting technology innovation on rainfed land. The purpose of this study was to determine the added value production in the intercropping system of corn and soybean for consumption in a rainfed rice field. The study was conducted in Batuliman Village, Candipuro District, South Lampung Regency on third planting time in 2020. The corn planted was a type of sweet corn for direct consumption. Meanwhile, soybean variety planted was Dega-1. Cropping system used was intercropping (Turiman). The results of the study showed that the intercropping system gave an average sweet corn production of 23.30 tons/ha of fresh pods and an average of soybean production 9.99 tons/ha of fresh pods. While monoculture planting of sweet corn yielded 18.83 tons/ha of fresh pods, and monoculture planting of soybeans yielded 4.84 tons/ha of fresh pods.

Soybean is including a major protein source with a relatively higher consumption rate. Similarly, various efforts have been adopted towards boosting production, including selecting high-yield species and soil fertility improvement using fertilizers. This research aims to increase soybean production by employing the appropriate variety and phosphate fertilizers to improve soil fertility. This experiment was conducted in Takalar, South Sulawesi, between April-July 2019. The split-plot design method was applied with three replications. Consequently, the main plot encompasses the treatment of three varieties, termed Argomulyo, Anjasmoro and Gema, while the subplots relate to phosphate fertilization, comprising three levels, including fertilization with a dose of SP-36 at 50, 100 and 150 kg.ha-1. The results showed that the modifications in variety and phosphorus fertilization significantly influenced soybean production, as Argomulyo obtained the maximum rate of 2.77 t.ha-1, followed by Anjasmoro at 2.45 t.ha-1. Furthermore, phosphate fertilization with a dose of SP-36 at 100-150 kg.ha-1 demonstrated the optimal soybean production as indicated by the maximum productive nodes and pods. Therefore, no interaction was observed between the various species and phosphate fertilization.

Zigzag planting method technology was an alternative technology to increase plant population without affecting plant growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the productivity of corn with different planting methods, such as the zigzag and the linear planting method applied by farmers on acid dry land in the Lampung area. The research was conducted at the Natar Experimental Station in Negara Ratu Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency, Indonesia from March to June 2020. The study used a two-factor randomized block design, namely the hybrid corn varieties (NK Sumo, NK 22 Jumbo, and NK Super) and the planting methods (zigzag and linear planting methods). Observations were made on ten plants per sampling plot, which were determined randomly. The results showed that the zigzag planting method produces a higher yield (8.16 tons/ha) compared to the linear planting method (4-5 tons/ha grain yield). Moreover, the zigzag planting method increased the plant population by 80% without disturbing plant growth and development. The zigzag planting method was able to increase corn production by 30-40%.
