The demand for sweet corn has increased largely because of its superior tastes compared with common corn. This research was conducted to analyze the growth and yield and sugar content of sweet corn seed on different varieties and harvest times. This research was conducted in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, from April to August 2018. The research was designed under a split-plot design. The main plot consisted of planting systems (single row and twin-row), whereas subplots consisted of three varieties (Bonanza, Talenta, and Master Sweet) and three harvest times (65, 70, and 75 days after planting). Variables measured consisted of plant height, cob length, cob weight, estimation of cob weight per hectare, and sugar content. Significant varietal differences were observed in plant height, cob length, cob weight, and sugar content. Master Sweet variety had the greatest plant height and cob length, whereas Bonanza variety produced the greatest cob weight, cob weight per hectare, and sugar content. Harvest time at 75 days after planting (DAP) produced the greatest plant height in the twin-row system, cob diameter, cob weight, and cob weight per hectare, whereas that at 65 DAP had the greatest plant height in control and sugar content. The twin-row system produced the greatest cob weight per hectare (22.33 ton/ha). This study recommends the use of Bonanza variety and harvest at 65 DAP to produce the greatest sweet corn cob per hectare.
Red Chilli pepper is one kind of plant that has high economic value, because it is necessary not only for household needs, but also a need for the industry. This research was conducted at the location of Farmers Kelompok Tani Sumber Rezeki, Toddopulia Village, District Tanralili, Maros, which lasted from March to July 2016. The study aims to analyze the effect of pruning on the growth and yield of different varieties of chilli red. This study was designed by Split Plot Design. In the main plot pruning consists of two levels ie without trimming and pruning wild Shoots, as a subplot that varieties of three types: Princes variety, variety Kastilo F1variety, and Monser F1 variety. The results showed that pruning does not affect the component plant height and the number of productive branches, but a good effect on crop production with a number of fruit crops gained 135.68 fruit, fruit weight per plant was obtained 635.10 g of fruit weight per plot was obtained 10, 85 kg. Weight of fruit per hectare high of 30.15 tons obtained in the interaction between pruning and varietys Princes.
People forest in North Luwu regency has a large enough potential but has not been managed intensively. The purpose of this research : reviewing people forest management in North Luwu regency, identifying internal and external factors in people forest management and formulate people forest management strategies in North Luwu regency. This research was conducted in North Luwu regency with a survey method in three dictricts, the sample was taken randomly with a total of 47 respondents. Data analysis was performed using descriptive methods and SWOT analysis. The result of the analyses indicated that the strategy could be best applied was strength-opportunity (SO) strategy, namely by (1) land optimization by developing agroforestry systems to increase land productivity by planting MPTS ( Multipurpose Tree Species) plants and the same time minimizing erosion, (2) increase the institutional capacity of forest farmer groups (KTH), and (3) inventory of existing potential to regulate planting and production in order to ensure the sustainability of people forest.
