Added Value Production of The Corn - Soybean Intercropping System on Rainfed Rice Land in the Third Planting Season in Lampung Selatan, Lampung Province

Abstract

Corn and soybean are still strategic commodities that support people’s food needs. Rainfed land becomes the foundation for the development of corn and soybean. Crop intercropping system (Turiman) is an alternative of planting technology innovation on rainfed land. The purpose of this study was to determine the added value production in the intercropping system of corn and soybean for consumption in a rainfed rice field. The study was conducted in Batuliman Village, Candipuro District, South Lampung Regency on third planting time in 2020. The corn planted was a type of sweet corn for direct consumption. Meanwhile, soybean variety planted was Dega-1. Cropping system used was intercropping (Turiman). The results of the study showed that the intercropping system gave an average sweet corn production of 23.30 tons/ha of fresh pods and an average of soybean production 9.99 tons/ha of fresh pods. While monoculture planting of sweet corn yielded 18.83 tons/ha of fresh pods, and monoculture planting of soybeans yielded 4.84 tons/ha of fresh pods.
