Gaze estimation is one of the most promising technologies for supporting indoor monitoring and interaction systems. However, previous gaze estimation techniques generally work only in a controlled laboratory environment because they require a number of high-resolution eye images. This makes them unsuitable for welfare and healthcare facilities with the following challenging characteristics: 1) users' continuous movements, 2) various lighting conditions, and 3) a limited amount of available data. To address these issues, we introduce a multi-view multi-modal head-gaze estimation system that translates the user's head orientation into the gaze direction. The proposed system captures the user using multiple cameras with depth and infrared modalities to train more robust gaze estimators under the aforementioned conditions. To this end, we implemented a deep learning pipeline that can handle different types and combinations of data. The proposed system was evaluated using the data collected from 10 volunteer participants to analyze how the use of single/multiple cameras and modalities affect the performance of head-gaze estimators. Through various experiments, we found that 1) an infrared-modality provides more useful features than a depth-modality, 2) multi-view multi-modal approaches provide better accuracy than singleview single-modal approaches, and 3) the proposed estimators achieve a high inference efficiency that can be used in real-time applications.

This study proposes a conceptual structure for the success of the real-time healthcare program in developing countries. Whilst developing and some developed countries face a significant challenge in adopting the application of real-time healthcare, this work aims to analyze the perspectives of healthcare practitioners in Malaysia. Since 1997, Malaysia has been putting efforts to introduce a real-time healthcare system, but due to geographical constraints and shortage of physicians, people in the rural area often have a hard time accessing quality healthcare services. This research proposes a remote patient's management framework to predict user's behaviour by three outputs of the real-time healthcare system performance: Net gain, system expectation and acceptance. Remote patient management system offering access to patient's data regardless of the location of patients and physicians is the only way forward for healthcare providers in developed and developing countries facing a shortage of healthcare services due to geographical constraints natural disasters of pandemics. We emphasize that there should be no compromise when it comes to the privacy of the patient's data in the proposed system. However, recent technologies such as the Internet of Things and Blockchain is deployed to ensure utmost privacy and security of patient's data.

The amazing fusion of the internet of things (IoT) into traditional health monitoring systems has produced remarkable advances in the field of e-health. Different wireless body area network devices and sensors are providing real-time health monitoring services. As the number of IoT devices is rapidly booming, technological and security challenges are also rising day by day. The data generated from sensor-based devices need confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, and end-to-end security for safe communication over the public network. IoT-based health monitoring systems work in a layered manner, comprising a perception layer, a network layer, and an application layer. Each layer has some security, and privacy concerns that need to be addressed accordingly. A lot of research has been conducted to resolve these security issues in different domains of IoT. Several frameworks for the security of IoT-based e-health systems have also been developed. This paper introduces a security framework for real-time health monitoring systems to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity by using two common IoT protocols, namely constrained application protocol (CoAP) and message query telemetry transports (MQTT). This security framework aims to defend sensor data against the security loopholes while it is continuously transmitting over the layers and uses hypertext transfer protocols (HTTPs) for this purpose. As a result, it shields from the breach with a very low ratio of risk. The methodology of this paper focuses on how the security framework of IoT-based real-time health systems is protected under the tiers of CoAP and HTTPs. CoAP works alongside HTTPs and is responsible for providing end-to-end security solutions.
