Intra- and Interfirm Coordination of Export Manufacturers: A Cluster Analysis of Indigenous Chinese Exporters

Abstract: Export manufacturers face challenges associated with intrafirm coordination among functional units and interfirm coordination with foreign distributors. The majority of research on export coordination examines intra- and interfirm coordination strategies separately. Consequently, limited insights have been gained into how export manufacturers combine the various intra- and interfirm coordination strategies to achieve export success. Using a cluster analysis, the authors incorporate both intra- and interfirm co… Show more

“…the relationship duration and exchange frequency. We performed the cluster analysis several times and chose the optimal number of clusters using silhouette analysis and the Tukey test (De Bruyn et al, 2008;Zhang et al, 2008). The initial cluster analysis suggested eight clusters, while the Tukey test showed that these clusters could be grouped into four homogenous subsets based on the means of both control factors.…”

“…Our results showed a seasonal pattern of CO 2 flux in this semiarid grassland (Figures 4 and 5), which was mainly due to variations in plant growth throughout the growing season. A previous study at the same site showed that S. capillata is characterized by a higher growth rate early in the season and higher aboveground biomass accumulation at mid-season [29]. High growth rates often produce more negative NEEs and, thus, high rates of ecosystem C sequestration [30][31][32].…”
