The aim of this review was to understand the role of physiological, hematological, biochemical and hormonal variables of the blood of goats raised in adverse environments. Scientific work in recent years has allowed for the evaluation of how goats of various breeds respond to edaphoclimatic effects to maintain homeothermy according to adaptability to the environment. The exposure of goats to heat stress causes changes in the physiological functions with impact on production and productivity of the animals. There is evidence that the central nervous system is sensitive to temperature changes, and some cells are agiler in the cold than in heat. In conclusion, we say that regardless of the breed, the raising environment and its climatic variables can trigger physiological, biochemical, hematological and hormonal alterations that result in a reduction of the heat production for maintenance of homeothermy. All these changes have a substantial impact on production and productivity.

R E S U M OCom este trabalho objetivou-se verificar o efeito do ambiente sobre os índices fisiológicos, produção e qualidade do leite de cabras Parda Alpina, puras e mestiças, no semiárido paraibano, utilizando-se 27 cabras, nove puras, nove ¾ Parda Alpina e nove ½ Parda Alpina, distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. As variáveis ambientais foram registradas através de data logger marca Hobo e os índices fisiológicos aferidos foram: temperatura retal, frequência respiratória, frequência cardíaca e temperatura superficial, nos horários das 8, 12 e 16 h. O leite foi avaliado através das características físico-químicas, contagem bacteriana total (CBT) e contagem de células somáticas (CCS). Os índices bioclimáticos apresentaram valores mais elevados entre as 12 e 15 h porém dentro da zona de conforto térmico para caprinos. Os índices fisiológicos, os parâmetros físico-químicos a CBT e CCS não apresentaram diferença significativa (p > 0,05) entre os grupos genéticos. Houve efeito significativo (p < 0,05) para produção diária de leite com maiores médias para o grupo ¾ Parda Alpina, sugerindo-se essa composição como a mais indicada para a exploração nas condições do trabalho.Production, milk quality and physiological indices of Alpine goats in semiarid in the rainy season A B S T R A C TThe objective of this research was to verify the effect of the environment on the physiological indices, production and quality of milk of purebred and crossbred goats Alpine in the semiarid of Paraiba state, with 27 goats, nine pure, nine ¾ Alpine Brown and nine ½ Parda Alpina distributed in a completely randomized design. Environmental variables were recorded using a data logger, and the physiological indices were rectal temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate and skin temperature at 8, 12 and 16 h. The milk was evaluated through the physical and chemical characteristics, total bacterial count (TBC) and somatic cell count (SCC). The bioclimatic indexes showed higher values between 12 and 15 h, but within the zone of thermal comfort for goats. The physiological indices, the physico-chemical parameters, SCC and TBC showed no significant difference (p > 0.05) between the genetic groups. There was significant effect (p < 0.05) for daily milk production, with higher means for the group ¾ Parda Alpina, suggesting that composition as the most suitable for the evaluated conditions. -The objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of three genetic groups of confined goats by image monitoring using nine unneutered goats of the Azul, Graúna and Moxotó genotypes. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 3 × 3 factorial arrangement (genetic groups × periods -morning, afternoon and night), with three replications. Animals were monitored by video cameras placed at the ceiling of each stall for 10 days. There were interaction factors in the frequency of behavioral categories: interaction with the trough, self-cleaning, standing bipedally, social interaction, and other activities. Azul, Graúna and Moxotó native goats kept in the same environment under the same system of containment and feeding show different frequencies and durations in their behaviors, which are influenced by the period of the day.
