The Background of this research is the study of the integration of science and religion in science learning in Islamic Higher Education. The study discusses how to teach biotechnology with Discovery Based Unity of Sciences (DBUS) model to improve students' personal religious beliefs. The purpose of the research is to know the implementation of Discovery Based Unity of Sciences model in learning biotechnology. The subjects of the study are majoring in biological education of UIN Walisongo Semarang and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogjakarta first year 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. Research method using experiment test. The results of the DBUS model study are feasible to improve PRB. The DBUS model has a loading factor value of 0.624 with a quadratic value of 0.624 = 0.3893. This result means that 39% indicator of personal religious beliefs (PRB) has an effect on DBUS model. Test t test on DBUS model in UIN Walisongo t value is 0.862. Test t test on DBUS model in UIN Sunan Kalijaga t value is 0.861. The DBUS model on the empowerment of UIN Walisongo and UIN Sunan Kalijaga students' PRB is high.

A preliminary study showed that Biology learning in the classroom could not encourage the integration of science concepts and Islamic values. The aims of this study are to (1) develop a new learning model that integrates scientific principles and Islamic values, and (2) characterize the RQANI model's validity, practicability, and effectiveness. This study belonged to the research and development study. The learning model was developed in four stages, including (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/implementation, and (4) test, evaluation, and revision. The study population included all biology education students at IAIN Ternate, STKIP KIE Raha Ternate, and UIN Alauddin Makassar in Indonesia. The study enrolled 120 fourth semester biology education students from IAIN Ternate, STKIP KIE Raha Ternate, and UIN Alauddin Makassar, Indonesia. The research instruments employed in this study are validation sheets for learning models, observation sheets for learning implementation, learning achievement tests, and response questionnaires for the learning model. The results of this study include: (1) a new learning model, namely RQANI, that consists of five learning stages (Reading, Questioning, Answering, Elaboration, Integration);(2) The validity of the RQANI prototype was very high with an average value of 3.74. The RQANI learning model was considered fairly practical and effective in improving student learning outcomes and positive responses. Therefore, it can be concluded that RQANI has met the requirements for a valid, practical and effective learning model.

<span lang="EN-US">As one of the 21st-century skills, critical thinking (CT) is required for working in an interdisciplinary setting. Educators are expected to provide learning activities that enhance students’ CT skills. Biology, particularly Cell Biology, is seen as challenging since the topics covered therein relate to those covered in the following semester. This research was conducted out as a preliminary study to improve the quality of the learning process, especially in the Cell Biology course. It aimed to identify students’ CT skills in mastering concepts about Cell Membranes. This study enlisted the participation of 105 students from two universities. This research used an instrument test essay using the rubric CT skills. The findings revealed that undergraduate students’ CT skills were classified as basic in mastering the concept of Cell Membrane.</span>
