Inclusion effect of ginger and turmeric mixture combined with Lactobacillus spp. isolated from rumen fluid of cattle on health status and growth of broiler

Abstract: This study was conducted to evaluate the combination of ginger and turmeric extracts added with Lactobacillus spp. (GTL) on body resistance and productivity of broilers. 576 broilers with an initial body weight of 36 ± 0.99 g were used and were observed for 35 days. GTL containing ginger extract (0.2 g/liter), turmeric extract (0.4 g/liter) and Lactobacillus spp. (2,997 x 107 cfu/ml), and was given since 1-day old. Parameters observed were bursa fabriscius, spleen, and thymus weights, gluthationine peroxidase … Show more

“…The results of the analysis of feed efficiency showed that there were no significant differences across the treatments. This finding agrees with some studies that have investigated the same variable [ 25 , 39 , 48 ]. However, Onimisi, Dafwang [ 49 ], Moorthy, Ravi [ 42 ], Onu [ 23 ], and Onimisi, Dafwang [ 49 ] reported significantly lower feed efficiency in ginger-supplemented groups compared to the control group.…”

“…There were some dietary supplementations have been conducted in the broiler, such as acidifier of lime juice (Jamilah et al, 2013), apple vinegar and ginger root (Hayajneh, 2019), and a combination of ginger and turmeric extract added with Lactobacillus sp. (Risdianto et al, 2019). However, research concerning a combination of microparticle protein and organic Ca of eggshell with the addition of lime juice as an acidifier has never been conducted.…”

“…Increased broiler chicken immunity against Salmonella, E. coli, and C. perfringens infections was also reported in many studies (120,121). The growth of pathogenic bacteria (E. coli and C. perfringens) in the intestines of broiler chickens was also inhibited (8,32,122,123). The combined probiotics produce lower abdominal fat and reduce the mass of meat cholesterol with increased total phenols, flavonoids, and antioxidant activity of broiler chicken meat (118,124).…”
