Immunodetection of Thyroid Hormone Receptor (Alpha1/Alpha2) in the Rat Uterus and Oviduct

Abstract: this study was to investigate the immunolocalization and the existence of thyroid hormone receptors (THR) (alpha1/alpha2) in rat uterus and oviduct. For this purpose 6 female Wistar albino rats found in estrous period were used. Tissue samples fixed in 10% neutral formalin were examined immunohistochemically. Sections were incubated with primary mouse-monoclonal THR (alpha1/alpha2) antibody. In uterus, THR (alpha1/alpha2) immunoreacted strongly with uterine luminal epithelium, endometrial gland epithelium and … Show more

“…The role of thyroid hormones on the oviductal epithelium could be achieved through thyroid hormone receptors located along this structure (Oner and Oner ), or indirectly by modulation of the follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone/human chorionic gonadotropin receptors (Armada‐Dias et al. ; Acharya et al.…”

“…Epithelial and smooth muscle cells of rat oviducts express thyroid receptors, indicating that they are targets for thyroid hormones (Oner and Oner ). Certainly, thyroidectomy reduces the thickness of epithelial and muscle layers of oviduct in adult rats (Amadi et al.…”

“…Reproductive dysfunctions and irregularities in the reproductive cycle, have long been associated with thyroid disorders (Krassas, Poppe, & Glinoer, ). There is strong evidence for the presence of thyroid hormone receptors in uterine smooth muscle nuclei and for a very significant influence of thyroid hormones on the contractility of uterine muscle (Öner & Öner, ).…”

“…Bibliotherapy is defined as the process of producing solutions for emotional problems through reading (McCulliss, 2012;Pardeck & Pardeck, 1993). According to Yeşilyaprak (2009) bibliotherapy is the process of getting well by means of reading, for Marlowe and Maycook (2000) it is the process of changing behavior through reading, and for Oner (2007) it's treatment with information. McKendree-Smith, Floyd, Scogin (2003) and Pardeck,Pardeck (l984) think bibliotherapy, which contributes individual to actualise himself or herself, is an effective method of problem solving and preventive guidance practices.…”
