Hochaktive antiretrovirale Therapie bei Neuro-AIDS

Abstract: Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has increased the mean survival time in the AIDS stage to sometimes more than 10 years. Five different groups of antiretroviral medications are known, of which integrase inhibitors and CCR5 antagonists represent the newest and most modern substances. The long AIDS survival time implies that side effects and interactions become relatively more important and must be differentiated from the symptoms of HIV itself. Side effects of HAART concern the central and periphera… Show more

“…Compared with traditional single antiviral drug, HARRT combines different categories’ antiviral chemicals and prolongs the HIV/AIDS patient survival (~7–10 years; Lu et al, 2018 ). Nevertheless, the complexity of regimens, high economic cost and frequent side effects (e.g., gastrointestinal reactions depression, insomnia, headaches) make HAART particularly difficult to insist ( Trotta et al, 2002 ; Husstedt et al, 2009 ; Endalamaw et al, 2018 ). Cruess et al (2012) demonstrated depressive symptoms were associated with nonadherence of antiretroviral and psychotropic medication ( Cruess et al, 2012 ).…”
