The results of studies on improving the environmental characteristics of boiler plants of municipal heat-power engineering in the application of technologies for the deep recovery of heat from exhaust-gases of gas-fired boilers are presented. The data on the reduction of environment by reducing the amount and temperature of harmful emissions resulting from fuel combustion are given. The data are given for boiler plants equipped with complex heat-recovery systems characterized by cooling the exhaust-gases below the dew point of the water vapor contained in them. It is shown that the decrease in emissions is due to a decrease in fuel consumption in boilers due to the beneficial use of the heat of exhaust-gases in these systems and the dissolution of nitrogen and carbon oxides in the condensate, formed in the heat-recovery equipments. The analysis of improving the environmental safety of boiler plants when used in heat-recovery technologies of corrosion protection systems for chimneys has been performed. Anticorrosion protection is provided by preventing condensate formation in the exhaust-gas ducts of boiler plants when using technologies for the deep recovery of exhaust-gas heat. To prevent condensate formation, the method of pre-drying cooled exhaust-gases in a heat exchanger-preheater installed after heat-recovery equipment is used. It is also shown that the use of complex heat-recovery systems provides in the boiler plant additional water in the form of condensate formed during condensation of moisture from exhaust-gases. Receipt of this condensate is another ecological effect of heat-recovery, which allows reducing the consumption of natural water resources for supply municipal heat networks.

This paper reports the results of studying the exergy effectiveness of thermal methods for anti-corrosion protection of the gas-draining tracts of boiler plants. These include the method of mixing heated air into flue gases, the method of passing part of the hot gases of the boiler through the bypass chimney, and a flue gas drying method. The research involved the devised comprehensive procedure based on an exergy approach. The dependences of exergy loss Elos and the heat- exergy criterion ε on the following parameters of thermal methods have been established: the amount of heated air N mixed into flue gases, the proportion of bypassed flue gases K, and the amount of dried flue gases R. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of heat recovery systems when applying the methods considered has been performed. It has been established that for the method of mixing, Elos and ε at ambient temperature ten=10 °C demonstrate the lowest values, that is, the efficiency of the system, in this case, is the highest. The most effective, when implementing the bypass method, is the heat recovery system at ten=10 °C. Under the method of drying, at all values of the amount of dried flue gases, the loss of exergy is the lowest at ten=0 °C. As regards the heat- exergy criterion, at values R≤20 %, the lowest values of ε are observed at ten=10 °C. At R>20 %, the lowest values of ε are at ten=0 °C. Thus, the efficiency of the system when implementing the method of drying is the highest at ten=0 °C and at the amount of dried air of R>20 %. The study reported here would provide the necessary information for designing optimal heat recovery schemes. The development of this study is to establish the relationship between the exergy and environmental efficiency of thermal protection methods in order to further reduce toxic emissions.

Introduction. One of the ways to save natural gas and to improve the environmental conditions in the municipal heat-power engineering is to use progressive technologies for recovering the heat of flue gases from boiler plants, in which the condensation mode of operation of heat-recovery equipment is implemented. To inc rease the ecological effect in some heat-recovery systems, a humidification process of the combustion air occur. This lowers the combustion temperature of the fuel and reduces the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the combustion products. Problem Statement. At humidifying combustion air, the boiler exhaust-gases are characterized by high moisture content. In the known calculation methods, there are no data on heat transfer under these conditions. This is a problem for conducting thermal calculations of such installations. Purpose. Establishing patterns of heat transfer at an increased moisture content of exhaust-gases in heatrecovery equipment, consisting of bundles of transverse-finned pipes, and determining the main parameters of the proposed complex installation. Materials and Methods. Experimental studies of heat transfer were carried out on a specially created stand. For the thermal and hydraulic calculation of a heat-recovery installation, known calculation methods were used, taking into account the experimental data obtained. Results. The laws of heat transfer during deep cooling of exhaust-gases with moisture content X = 0.15-0.30 kg/kg d.g. are established. The thermal, hydraulic and operating characteristics of the proposed complex heat-recovery installation with heating and humidification of the combustion air in different modes of operation of the boiler are determined. This installation has been introduced; its tests have been carried out, which have confirmed high thermal and environmental efficiency. Conclusions. The application of the proposed complex heat-recovery unit allows increasing the coefficient of the use heat of fuel of boiler depending on its operating mode by 13-20%. K e y w o r d s : heat-recovery of exhaust-gases, increased moisture content, condensation mode, heat-exchange, efficiency use of fuel, and reduction of harmful emissions.
