Purpose. Analysis of the effectiveness of using methods of heat and humidity treatment of flue gases to improve the operational modes of chimneys for heating gas-consuming boiler plants with heat recovery systems. Methodology. The known normative methods of thermal calculation of boiler plants and methods of dispersion of pollutants emitted by chimneys of these plants were used. To determine the thermal and moisture parameters of flue gases during their deep cooling, an original method developed at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was used. Findings. The efficiency of applying the proposed thermal methods to improve environmental conditions and magnification of the operational reliability of chimneys of boiler plants equipped with systems for deep heat recovery of exhaust gases has been studied. The methods which are usually used in boiler-houses to prevent condensate formation in chimneys were considered. Adecrease in the maximum ground-level concentration of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide emissions was determined when using these methods. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the proposed methods for brick and metal chimneys in different modes of operation of heating boiler plants has been carried out. It is shown that these methods allow improving significantly (up to 32%) the indicators of ecological efficiency of chimneys in conditions of 58% reduction of fuel use in boilers. Originality. For the first time to improve the environmental performance of chimneys of boiler plants with deep heat recovery systems of flue gases has been justified the use of thermal methods of their heat and moisture treatment. Practical value. The possibility of using the results of the work in the design of heat recovery systems for gas-consuming heating boilers.
Purpose. Improving the conditions for dispersing harmful emissions from gas-consuming industrial furnaces based on the development of new complex methods for their greening using modern energy-saving technologies. Methodology. The known methods of heat exchangers and chimneys thermal calculation and methods for dispersing harmful emissions from thermal-energy plants in the environment were used. Findings. Calculative studies were carried out on improving the chimneys operation safety of glass furnaces of regenerative type when using technologies for waste heat recovery of furnace gases using water-heating and air-heating heat exchangers and chimneys of various designs. The influence of design features of chimneys on their operating modes when using heat recovery technologies with water and air heat recovery units has been studied. In order to improve the environmental efficiency and operational reliability of chimneys, it is proposed to use the thermal method of bypassing part of exhaust gases from regenerators past the heat recovery equipment in the heat recovery technologies. The effectiveness of this method for improving the dispersion in the ground-level of harmful emissions from furnaces when using the proposed heat recovery systems has been analyzed. Originality. For the first time, the application efficiency has been investigated of the proposed greening methods to improve the dispersion conditions of harmful emissions of gas-consuming glass furnaces in the environment under the conditions of using heat recovery technologies. Practical value. The results obtained will be used in the development of energy-efficient gas-consuming thermal installations for technological purposes.
The feature analysis of application for heating boiler plants of relatively small heating capacity, which are not equipped with air heaters, of the method of reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides due to decrease the temperature in the boiler furnace by recirculating exhaust gases into the blown air are presented. At the same time, heating gas-consuming boiler plants with traditional heat recovery systems of exhaust gases and implementation of this method with the selection of recycled gases after the boiler and heat-recovery exchanger are considered. The study results for a water-heating boiler with a heating capacity of 2 MW of the change regularities of the combustion temperature in the boiler furnace, the its exhaust gases temperature and water heated in the boiler as well as the boiler efficiency, depending on its relative heat load changed (from 30 to 100%) and with different parts of recirculated gases (from 10 to 20%) in the mixture with the blown air are presented. The studies were performed with and without them recirculation and heat recovery of flue gases. The research results show that the use of waste gas recirculation causes a noticeable decrease (by 150 – 250°C) in the combustion adiabatic temperature and a slight (by 0.5 – 4.7°C) decrease in the boiler waste gases temperature. Recirculation also leads to a decrease in boiler efficiency by 1.3 – 3.1% during the heating period, and the use of the considered heat recovery system of boiler waste gases with heating of return heat-network water by cooling them provides an increase in boiler efficiency by 2.5 – 8.1%. The resulting increase in boiler efficiency with a heat recovery and recirculation system is 0.1–4.8%.
