Genus Diversity of Actinomycetes in Cibinong Science Center, West Java, Indonesia

Abstract: Actinomycetes are microorganisms that play important role to support human health and known as soil microorganisms. The aim of the research was to describe genus diversity of actinomycetes in Cibinong Science Center (CSC), West Java. Samples for isolation were soil and plant litters. The samples were air dried and ground. We employed isolation methods: dry heat (DH), sodium dodecyl sulphates-yeast extract (SDS-YE), rehydration and centrifugation (RC), and oil separation (OS). A total of 263 isolates of actino… Show more

“…One of the groups of bacteria that produce many important antibiotics is Actinobacteria. Actinobacteria are Gram-positive, have high GC content, and comprise various genera known for their secondary metabolite production, such as Streptomyces , Micromonospora , Kitasatospora , Nocardiopsis , Pseudonocardia , Nocardia , Actinoplanes , Saccharopolyspora , and Amycolatopsis [16,17]. Their most important genus is Streptomyces , which has a filamentous form like fungi and has become a source of around two-thirds of all known natural antibiotics [18].…”

“…J. Microbiol., 10 (12): 582-591, 2015 broth medium using DNA extraction kit (Promega, USA) (Widyastuti et al, 2012). The 16S rRNA PCR then preformed using the 5'-GAGTTTGATCCTGGCTCAG-3' forward primer and 5'-AAGGAGGTGATCCAGCC-3' reverse primer.…”

“…Actinomycetes are found abundantly in the environment and have a large diversity of genera (Lisdiyanti et al 2012;Widyastuti et al 2012;Ratnakomala et al 2016;Sulistyani et al 2014). One of the actinomycetes habitats is the marine environment.…”
