Gateway-stable Election Protocol for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract: An in-depth study of Stable Election Protocol (SEP) revealed that, distance was not considered in selecting the cluster heads in the network. This allows a distant node that is selected as the head to dissipate huge energy in transmitting data to the Base station (BS). It was further observed that, whenever the Base station is relocated outside the field, the energy consumption of the network is high and hence shortening the lifetime of the network. In this paper, a Gateway-SEP protocol is proposed. The G-SEP … Show more

“…The requirements applied are the pair of President and Vice President elected in the first round if they won 45% of the vote with a distance of 5 percent from the second candidate, or 40% of the vote with a range of 10% of the vote from the second candidate. [19]; [20] The presentations of selected candidates for parliamentarians throughout Indonesia, both for members of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), the Regional Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD Provincial) and the Regional Representatives' Council (DPRD) are also represented in figures. Based on the results of the general election simultaneously produced 4,679 elected legislators.…”

“…Z-SEP enhances SEP in many respects, but like in SEP fails to consider node distance and node neighbours density in cluster head selection. [17] presented a Gateway-SEP protocol that uses nodes' distance and residual energy in selecting cluster heads in pretty recent research.…”

“…Because sensors are generally costly, it will be worthwhile to examine other cheaper means to extend the lifespan of a sensor network without introducing (expensive) new nodes. In Z-SEP, the sensor nodes are deployed in a planned manner, and consequently, the proposal in [17] is arranged in the same fashion to enable comparison. In this work, a comparatively cheaper, multicriteria cluster head selection technique has been proposed and applied in offering an extended lifespans solution to the operations of a heterogeneous wireless sensor network.…”

“…Jibreel, in [18], explained an extended form of Threshold Stable Election Protocol called eTSEP. The new scheme introduces the distance and residual energy into the election probabilities of each level of the nodes.…”

“…The authors in [23] explained a Gateway-Stable Election Protocol (G-SEP). The G-SEP scheme altered the election probability of selecting the cluster heads by considering the distance, average distance and residual energy of the advanced nodes.…”
