<p>The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pre-germination treatments (magneto-priming and immersion of seeds in gibberellic acid solution) on variables associated with germination, emergence and vigor of Passiflora edulis seeds ‘BRS Gigante Amarelo’ cultivar. Seeds were extracted from fruits, washed, immersed for 6 hours in solutions with different GA3 concentrations and later arranged in a circular form in Petri dishes at temperature of 25°C, with and without exposure to magnetic field. Subsequently, analyses associated with the germination and emergency test were carried out. The experimental design was completely randomized design, with 3x2 factorial, three GA3 concentrations (0, 50 and 100 mg L-1) and presence/absence of magnetic field (MF), with four replicates of 20 seeds each. Variables germination percentage, germination speed index, mean germination time, percentage of emerged seedlings, emergence speed index, shoot length and root length and seedling dry weight were evaluated. Results indicate that the exposure of passion fruit seeds to MF in an isolated way stimulates seed germination, emergence and vigor, being an alternative to conventional treatments based on chemical substances.</p>

A espécie Passiflora cincinnata Mast. é silvestre, não-comercial, conhecida popularmente como maracujá-do-mato. Pode ser aproveitada como planta ornamental ou medicinal, além de ser comestível e ser considerada potencialmente importante para uso como porta-enxerto. O trabalho foi realizado no Departamento de Botânica, Instituto de Biociências da Unesp, Câmpus de Botucatu-SP, e objetivou avaliar o efeito dos reguladores vegetais GA4+7 + N-(fenilmetil)-aminopurina na germinação de sementes, emergência e desenvolvimento de plântulas de P. cincinnata Mast.. As sementes foram obtidas junto à Embrapa Semi-Árido a partir de plantas cultivadas no Campo Experimental da Caatinga, Petrolina-PE. Foram realizados dois experimentos, sendo o primeiro em laboratório, para estudo da germinação, e o segundo em casa de vegetação, para estudo da emergência e desenvolvimento das plântulas. Em ambos os experimentos, foi utilizado o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, cada um com 11 tratamentos de diferentes concentrações de GA4+7 + N-(fenilmetil)-aminopurina (zero; 100; 200; 300; 400; 500; 600; 700; 800; 900 e 1.000 mg L-1) e cinco repetições cada. Para análise dos dados, foram utilizadas análise de variância e análise de regressão. Com base nos resultados obtidos, concluiu-se que os reguladores vegetais, G A4+7 + N-(fenilmetil)-aminopurina, incrementaram o processo germinativo, bem como a emergência e o desenvolvimento de plântulas de P. cincinnata Mast..

Passiflora foetida L. has broad utility as a medicinal and ornamental plant; however, information regarding varieties and the physiological potential of their seeds are scarce. Here, we aim to evaluate in vitro and ex vitro germination behaviour and to adapt tetrazolium methodology for P. foetida var. glaziovii Killip. The botanical identification and characterisation were performed through the observation of morphological characters and consultation of the relevant literature. Ex vitro germination was performed on rolled and flat Germitest paper at continuous (25 °C) and alternating (20 and 30 °C; night and day, respectively) temperatures. Seeds with the completely removed integument were used for in vitro germination and tetrazolium tests. The in vitro germination test was performed with MS medium using seeds conditioned under different light qualities (white, red, far-red or darkness) and at two temperature regimes (25 °C; 20 and 30 °C alternating temperature). For the tetrazolium test, seeds were soaked in different concentrations of tetrazolium salt (2.5, 5.0, 7.5 or 10 g L -1 ) at different temperatures (30, 35, 40 or 45 °C) for two hours in the dark. This is the first record of P. foetida var. glaziovii, a wild herbaceous vine with glandular trichomes on its leaves, bracts and stipules; fruit bacoid, elliptic, glabrous, in Espírito Santo State, Brazil. The seeds are small (approximately 4.87 mm long and 2.15 mm wide) and non-photoblastic, and in vitro germination must be performed using an alternating temperature (20 and 30 °C) regime. The best result of germination was achieved using a concentration-temperature combination of 10 g L -1 tetrazolium and 30 °C.
