Floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition (FCCVD) has been one of the most important techniques for the synthesis of high-quality single-, double-, and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The method is characterized of simple processing, good controllability, and desirable scalability. The bulk morphologies of the synthesized CNTs can be sponge-like, an array, a thin film, or fiber by simply changing the growth parameters and the way they are collected, which facilitates a wide range of applications. The authors comprehensively review the state-of-the-art progress on the controlled growth of CNTs by FCCVD which have a defined number of walls, and controlled diameter, bundle size, and type of conductivity. The properties and possible applications for the CNTs and their hybrids are summarized. Finally, insights into the key challenges and prospects for CNTs synthesized by FCCVD are discussed.

The quality of topographic images obtained using atomic force microscopy strongly depends on the accuracy of the choice of scanning parameters. When using the most common scanning method – semicontact amplitude modulation (tapping) mode, the choice of scanning parameters is quite complicated, since it requires taking into account many factors and finding the optimal balance between them. A researcher’s task can be significantly simplified by introducing new scanning techniques. Two such techniques are described: vertical and dissipation modes. Significantly simplified and formalized choice of the imaging parameters in these modes allows addressing a wide range of formerly challenging tasks – from scanning rough samples with high aspect ratio features to molecular resolution imaging.

+7 9117294724 1. AbstractThis work proposes new chemical and mechanical materials and techniques for III-V semiconductor NW/silicone membrane formation and optoelectronic device fabrication. Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)-synthesized n-, p-and i-GaP NWs were encapsulated by introduced G-coating method into synthesized polydimethylsiloxane-graft-polystyrene and released from the Si growth substrate. The fabricated membranes were contacted with different materials including single-walled carbon nanotubes or ferrocenyl-containing polymethylhydrosiloxane with and without multi-walled carbon nanotubes doping. The electrical connection of the fabricated membranes was verified by electron beam induced current (EBIC) spectroscopy. The developed methods and materials can be applied for fabrication of high quality flexible inorganic optoelectronic devices.
