Introduction: Many students have been accustomed to smoking, including those majoring at health sciences. Theoretically, they are supposed to be the ones who are actively aware of some possible health damages caused by smoking habit. Thus, people around them play an essential role in taking control of someone’s pattern through social support, especially over those who are highly motivated to quit smoking. Objective: This study aimed to identify smoking behavior, social support, and cessation motivation in smoking among health sciences’ students. Methods: This research was categorized as observational-descriptive one, with the use of accidental sampling technique to recruit as many as 63 students of faculty of health sciences who were defined as active smokers. The data, furthermore, were collected by means of a questionnaire. At last, a statistical-descriptive analysis was used to evaluate the data. Result: The result was most of the involved respondents were shown to have a moderate trend of smoking (65%). On the other hand, the majority of the respondents had been supported through some types of social support with relatively high percentage, to name appraisal support (indicating 71%), tangible support (indicating 87%), self-esteem support (indicating 97%), and belonging support (indicating 92%). Moreover, most of the respondents were equipped by the high level of quittance motivation from smoking, signifying 71%. Discussion: This research had indicated that the level of smoking habit perceived by the respondents was moderate. In short, appraisal support was defined as high, tangible support low, self-esteem support high, and belonging support high. The golden snail is a freshwater mollusk that is an important pest of rice cultivation in Asia. The gold snail shell is almost entirely made of calcium carbonate, which has great potential to assist the manufacture of hydroxyapatite. The content of chitosan in golden snail shells contains an amine group as an antimicrobial substance so that it can inhibit bacterial growth. Calcium carbonate has low solubility in air, which makes it able to neutralize lactic acid and maintain pH at a certain level automatically. Previous research experimentally revealed that the golden snail shell paste (Pomacea canaliculata L.) was able to increase calcium in saliva so that at a concentration of 5% it was able to harden enamel. In this research proposal, the researcher wants to know the effect of shell paste on caries inhibition by looking at the inhibitory power of the paste (streptococcus) and the increase in salivary pH after applying the paste, with the formulation of whether gold snail shell paste is effective in inhibiting the caries process? This research is true experimental research (laboratory) with a post-test control group design, with a total sample of 15 media, divided into 3 treatment groups. It was carried out in the bacteriology laboratory of TLM Poltekkes Palembang. Data analysis used two-way Anova test. The results of this study stated that 5% gold snail shell paste was able to inhibit the caries process by neutralizing salivary pH with calcium carbonate and inhibiting bacteria by chitosan.

Pendahuluan: Taman kanak-kanak adalah ujung tombak pendidikan paling dasar bagi anak-anak, dengan pengenalan kesehatan sedini mungkin dengan program UKS. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan penjelasan UKS Sejak Dini Anak Usia Dini Tk Dharma Wanita Persatuan 09, Pagak, Kabupaten Malang. Metode: Metode implementasi yang dilakukan dalam program pengabdian ini adalah: 1) peningkatan dan pemahaman UKS untuk guru dan siswa. 2) pelatihan untuk menjadi perawat kecil, pendampingan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas manajemen UKS untuk meningkatkan kesehatan siswa. 3) pengenalan PHBS untuk siswa. Kegiatan itu diadakan tiga pertemuan. Hasil: Hasil kegiatan ini menambah pengetahuan dan antusiasme guru dan siswa dalam melakukan kegiatan UKS. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan data dari siswa tentang kesehatan dan kebersihan telinga, kuku, dan identifikasi gizi siswa. Data diperoleh dari 20 siswa yang terdiri dari TK A 6 siswa, dan TK B 14, 65% siswa TK A dan B dengan status normal, 25% obesitas, dan 10% hampir kekurangan gizi. Kondisi kebersihan telinga dan kuku adalah 75% bersih, sedangkan sisanya tidak menyadari untuk membersihkan telinga dan kuku mereka. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan pendampingan dan pelatihan ini merupakan kegiatan preventif yang dapat memberikan bekal yang cukup bagi kader Percil saat dihadapkan dapat diaplikasikan pada kehidupan sehari-hari.
