Participatory medicine and e-health help to promote health literacy among non-medical professionals. Users of e-health systems actively participate in a patient social network system (PSNS) to share health information and experiences with other users with similar health conditions. Users’ activities provide valuable healthcare resources to develop effective participatory medicine between patients, caregivers, and medical professionals. This study aims to investigate the factors of patients’ engagement in a PSNS by integrating and modifying an existing behavioral model and information system model (i.e., affective events theory (AET) and self-determination theory (SDT)). The AET is used to model the structure, the affective aspects of the driven behavior, and actual affective manifestation. The SDT is used to model interest and its relations with behavior. The data analysis and model testing are based on structural equation modeling, using responses from 428 users. The results indicate that interest and empathy promote users’ engagement in a PSNS. The findings from this study suggest recommendations to further promote users’ participation in a PSNS from the sociotechnical perspective, which include sensitizing and constructive engagement features. Furthermore, the data generated from a user’s participation in a PSNS could contribute to the study of clinical manifestations of disease, especially an emerging disease.

Mediatization and internetization of all areas of people’s lives have become key prerequisites for the digitalization of educational practices. An increased interest in this field along with insufficient research into it has determined the relevance of this study. Its purpose is the attempt to generalize and systematize the practices developed during the authors’ professional work. To achieve this purpose, the authors chose theoretical methods. They reviewed and analyzed the practices of teaching and upbringing of young people in the Internet space and audiovisual educational formats. The article deals with the practical cyberpedagogy practices of teaching and upbringing of young people in the Internet space: 1) Internet project development (Internet projecting); 2) network support of educational disciplines in social networks; 3) audiovisual formats in the education process; 4) remote psychological work. The authors examine the integration of audiovisual media into educational activities and the opportunities for psychological support for educational activities in cyberspace. The formats of media content used for teaching schoolchildren and students through digital technologies are specified. The authors note the positive aspects of the process of education visualization and the application of the practices and note the associated risks and ways to overcome them. The novelty of the results of this theoretical study consists in the following: the authors generalize and analyze the practices of teaching and upbringing of young people in the Internet space, conclude on the most relevant practices, examine the risks of using these practices, and propose the recommendations on how to avoid these risks. The above will allow university lecturers and school teachers, the target audience of the article, to use these practices productively and minimize the possible negative consequences.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue recoger las reflexiones de la enseñanza virtual de la investigación de operaciones (IO) durante la COVID-19, partiendo de análisis desde la práctica docente universitaria. El método se fundamentó en un ciclo de investigación-acción. El grupo de estudio estuvo conformado por una muestra de 30 docentes universitarios que dictan la asignatura de IO, estratificados en las provincias ecuatorianas de Bolívar, Chimborazo, Manabí, y Tungurahua. Se aplicó dos técnicas de recolección de datos, utilizando la plataforma Zoom y Google Forms. El instrumento fue evaluado por profesores investigadores. Los resultados evidencian que el 93.33% de los estudiantes universitarios soportan problemas en su proceso formativo durante la crisis sanitaria. En conclusión, el estudio, reveló profundas limitaciones de carácter organizativo, administrativo y pedagógico en la implementación de entornos virtuales de aprendizaje, y demostró, la necesidad del establecimiento de nuevos modelos de enseñanza virtual y de sistemas híbridos (presenciales y a distancia) para la docencia.
