Extraction And Characterirization Of Sunflower Crude Oil.

Abstract: The oil samples used for this work were obtained from sunflower seeds. The seeds was prepared, dried, dehulled, conditioned and flaked. The oil was extracted by solvent extraction. The oil sample was investigated for their physico-chemical parameters which were specific gravity, refractive index, colour, flash, fire smoke, soft and turbidity points. There values were 0.923± 0.016, 1.475±0.002, 18.00 units,339.00±2.20 o C, 342±1.20 o C, 235.00±1.75 o C, 42.00±1.108.00±0.20, 42.00±1.10, respectively. Other were … Show more

“…Therefore, the moisture content must be substantially lowered (≤ 7%) before rubber seeds can be safely stored (Ebewele et al 2010 ). Rubber seeds are also rich in oil; the oil content in dried kernels is 48.78% (Table 1 ), which is high compared to seeds such as flax, sunflower, and rapeseed (Abitogun et al 2012 ; Li et al 2014 ).…”

“…Through solvent extraction (Fig. 7a), the oil yield of rubber seed is higher than most oilseeds, including axseed, palm fruit (Tan et al, 2017), sun ower seed (Abitogun et al, 2012), sesame (Elkhaleefa and Shigidi, 2015) and rapeseed (Li et al, 2014). As shown in Fig.…”

“…Sunflower is divided into two groups; the oilseed and non-oilseed. The chemical content of the sunflower oil depends on the genetic, environmental situations and the maturity of the seed (Baydar & Erbas, 2005;Abitogun et al, 2008;De Oliveira Filho & Egea, 2021). The quality and composition of sunflower seed that adapted to high temperature and limited water surrounding is impacted by maturity of the seed, growing conditions and storage parameters.…”
