“…The policy trend identified in the current study is at odds with developments in the wider scientific ecosystem resulting in an increased use of open science practices (Christensen et al 2019;Swanson et al 2020). Ubiquitous information access has created a new reality of higher transparency expectations, including from governments (Janssen and Van den Hoven 2015;Redden 2018;Wood 2015), universities (Saraite Sariene, Caba Pérez, andLópez Hernández 2020;Robinson-Garcia, Costas, and Van Leeuwen 2020), scientific associations, and funding agencies (National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine 2018;Royal Society 2012;NSF 2013). By failing to increase transparency, the discipline risks not only its credibility, but also access to resources, as management research is already perceived as less likely to be replicable than research in other social sciences, such as economics, political science, and sociology (Gordon et al 2020).…”
