“…While a three body α + α + n cluster structure picture of the 9 Be nucleus is more accurate one, the effective two-body α + 5 He [α + (α + n)] [8,9] or n + 8 Be [n + (α + α)] [10,11] cluster configuration can be used successfully in the calculations to explain the reaction dynamics. Experimentally, several measurements of 9 Be breakup [12][13][14][15] have been performed to quantify the contribution of different cluster decay components in its low-lying excitation spectrum.…”

“…Decay rates were determined for the 2.429(5/2 − ) MeV resonance of 9 Be into three decay modes, 5 He + 4 He, 8 Be +n, and α + α + n, and a total breakup cross section was deduced. It was also found that the decay via the 5 He + 4 He configuration is the strongest one, in good agreement with beta decay and transfer measurements [23][24][25][26][27][28], but not with inelastic scattering studies on light targets [29][30][31]. No theoretical interpretation of these data was performed.…”

“…[51], the authors investigate breakup coupling effects on near-barrier 6 Li, 7 Be, and 8 B + 58 Ni elastic scattering in a CDCC approach. They observe the following paradox: 6 Li, with a relatively small breakup cross section, exhibits an important breakup coupling effect on the elastic scattering, whereas 8 B, with a large breakup cross section, shows a very modest coupling effect [31,51]. Further investigation found that the coupling effect on the modulus of the S matrix, which is connected with changes in the imaginary part of the potential, is almost negligible for 8 B and largest for 6 Li.…”

“…The 8 Be production channel is not the only possible one which involves the two He fragment production. In particular, in [6] one discusses the possibility of observing a channel 9 Be→ 5 He+α →2α+n.…”
