␣-Particle singles and doubles yields for the reaction of 9 Beϩ 208 Pb have been measured from below to well above the fusion barrier energy. These yields have been reproduced by calculations including both neutron transfer and inelastic excitation. The calculations predict breakup cross sections to persist to very low energies, where the latter process dominates.
The population and decay of excited states in 24 Mg have been investigated using the 12 C͑ 16 O, 12 C 12 C͒␣ reaction at beam energies of 135 and 160 MeV. This measurement permitted the decay spectrum to be measured up to 24 Mg excitation energies of 70 MeV. Resonance structures were observed up to an excitation energy of 49.4 MeV and spin J=18ប. The results are discussed in terms of the termination of a deformed 12 C+ 12 C cluster band.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
