The study aims to analyze the situation of employment in West Sumatra Province using indicators such as the employment status, sector/business field, and type of work, labor productivity, and labor elasticity during the period 2018-2020. The descriptive quantitative approach was employed, using secondary data from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The data used include the main job status, economic sector, type of work, and constant price GRDP. The statistical data obtained describe the characteristics of the employment situation in the Province of West Sumatra. Information on the results of data analysis is visualized in the form of tables, graphs, and descriptions. Calculations are carried out to determine the value of labor productivity and elasticity. This method is carried out by calculating the ratio between the growth of employment opportunities and the growth of GRDP from different time points. The results of this study indicate that employment status in West Sumatra is dominated by formal workers. The primary and tertiary business sectors absorb more labor than the secondary sector. The agricultural, forestry, hunting, and fishery business workers are very dominant in absorbing labor in West Sumatra Province in 2018-2020. Total labor productivity decreased in 2020 due to a decrease in regional income in several sectors/business fields during the Covid-19 pandemic. Labor elasticity by sector/business field in West Sumatra mostly has a value of less than zero with the water supply, waste management, waste, and recycling sectors having the highest labor elasticity values.

Notwithstanding overwhelming evidence that shows how unsustainable energy consumption contributes to our already rising ecological footprint (EF), the situation is mostly unchanged worldwide, especially in developing countries with poor equipment for efficient energy generation, with a growing threat of global warming due to unsustainable energy consumption and its disastrous environmental effects. Therefore, this study sought to analyze the ecological footprint of energy consumption in Ijebu Ode. A descriptive cross-sectional method was employed, and primary data were sourced from systemically sampled 400 households using structured questionnaires, analyzed descriptively using Microsoft Excel, and inferentially using the ecological footprint mathematical model. Findings revealed the overall EF of energy consumption in Ijebu Ode at 0.07 gha/capita, constituting about 6.7% of the city EF share, with electricity having the major share (0.04 gha; 51.9%), followed by gas with a footprint of 0.02 gha (26%). The lowest of the energy footprints were kerosine, charcoal, and firewood, with 0.003 gha (3.9%), 0.002 gha (2.6%), and 0.001 gha (1.3%), respectively. Thus, we conclude that Ijebu Ode has sustainable energy consumption, and therefore calls for practical policy directives aimed at improving our natural gas distribution potential to facilitate household availability and affordability in light of our reputation as the highest natural gas reserve holder in Africa.

Issues of environmental security, fuel and energy independence have been forming political and economic territories for several centuries. Current events in Ukraine have become a litmus test, which clearly highlights the dangers of resource monopolies and the transfer of economic benefits. The issue of ensuring the energy system in climate neutrality became relevant even before the aggression by Russia. However, today, there is no country, it has not recognized that there is the urgent need to develop and implement effective tools for economic development in a sustainable environment. The modern cost-oriented model of knowledge of economic processes has led not only to the irrational use of natural potential. Large-scale use of natural resources and the irrational organization of production (including agricultural) disrupt the process of their reproduction, which, in turn, leads to the depletion of bioresources and, as a consequence, can lead humanity to ecological catastrophe. Certain solutions have been proposed to address these issues. To ensure the efficient use of the resources of the agricultural sector and the reliable reflection of biological processes, it is proposed to recognize the biological form of capital as self-growing and self-reproducing value, which, in the process of biological transformation, allows obtaining an additional unit of benefits. The study examines, in detail, the promising areas of the transformation of the agricultural sector in the framework of a technologically integrated European Green Deal in the EU. In this study, to determine the potential opportunities for the ecological transformation of agriculture, discrete analytical models of the assessment of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine were used. Representative data use statistical indicators of Ukraine and, to illustrate potential opportunities, present a comparison of export data to EU countries. In addition, it reveals the realized and potential opportunities of Ukraine’s entry into the European market through the prism of the implementation programs of EU environmental policy. The place and significance of assimilation potential for a reduction in the anthropogenic impact on the environment, and providing the self-restoration of natural resources, are substantiated. It is determined that one of the most effective tools for low-cost reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions is the national-level implementation of environmental-quota trade and the development of organic production. The study includes an analytical assessment of the expected emission reductions from environmental initiatives’ implementation. Prospects for further research are the development of an effective mechanism for the systematic management of the biological potential reproduction of the agricultural sector while reducing anthropogenic impact on the environment.
