Endo-restorative treatment of a severly discolored upper incisor: resolution of the aesthetic problem through Componeer veneering System

Abstract: A multidisciplinary approach is always necessary to program a treatment plan in dentistry; in the case reported Authors decide to perform an endo-conservative treatment with different steps: - root canal therapy to resolve endodontical problem- glass fiber post to reinforce the conservative restoration- direct composite veneer restoration (after bleaching) to obtain the resolution of anterior aesthetic problems.

“…Chromatic stability is the property a material possesses to retain its color for a period of time in a determined environment, which is an important physical property for dental materials [9,10]. The alteration of color in polymeric materials can be caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors [10][11][12][13][14]. Modifications in the polymeric matrix with chromatic alteration of the restorative material are caused by intrinsic factors [10,13].…”

“…Modifications in the polymeric matrix with chromatic alteration of the restorative material are caused by intrinsic factors [10,13]. Extrinsic factors such as solar radiation, thermal changes, humidity, absorption, and adsorption of substances can also cause discoloration [10][11][12][13][14]. Also, the surface and luminosity of the object must be considered as influencing factors in the determination of the color [15].…”

“…20 The indirect esthetic restoration has become increasingly popular and the ceramic veneers are considered an alternative to full coverage and enhances the esthetic appearance of anterior teeth. 32 Also, the veneer restoration may be a minimal intervention approach, compared to indirect restorations crown, 33 depending on the amount of dental tissues removed. A recent study, with follow up of ten years, compared indirect resin composites veneers with ceramic veneers, and better performance was observed for ceramic veneers, considering survival rate and quality of the long-term restorations.…”

“…Increasing demands for aesthetic restorative treatments have led to recent advances in dentistry, developing adhesive integrated materials (such as adhesive systems and composites) and techniques aimed at restoring the natural tooth appearance, especially in the anterior segment (97). The major requirement of adhesive aesthetic materials is the ability to achieve an excellent color matching with the natural teeth and the maintenance of the optical properties over time.…”
