Recent developments in virtual reality (VR) technologies offer new opportunities for teaching management courses. The objective of this article is to present one way to use VR to teach operations management. In partnership with a global manufacturer, we integrate virtual environments of the manufacturers’ real factories in a course assignment. The assignment was used in two graduate operations management courses. Theoretically, we draw on the concept of immersion. To evaluate the effects of VR on students’ learning experiences, we use focus groups and a survey. We find that VR can be implemented cost-efficiently in operations management courses and present one way to do it. Considering effectiveness, we find that students generally perceive that VR improves their learning experience. The presented VR assignment provides students a guided discovery learning, which is active. However, we also find several limitations with the current technology, which can be overcome in future implementations. Teachers can use the idea and findings presented here to innovate their own teaching by the means of readily available and low-cost VR technologies.

The effect of zimmer twins as digital storytelling on students’ writing narrative text

The objective of the research to compare of Zimmer twins website tool as digital storytelling than use nondigital in writing text narrative on students writing ability at the eleventh grade of MA Yayasan Sirojul Islam Sukolilo 2018/2019 academic year. Zimmer twins media is an animated movie maker based on the website for the students to create their short stories in movies with many emotion, etc. The sample of this research the Eleventh of MA YASI those are XI- 1 class as the experimental class, and the X1-2 class as the control class consisted of 20 students. The method in this research was a quantitative method. In addition, the design used was quasi-experimental research, and the instrument used a test. The research was taken by using non-random sampling. Moreover, this research was conducted through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatments and giving post-test. The data analyzed and processed by using the statistic data calculation of ANCOVA by SPSS 23 program. The significant was shown by the students post-test mean in experimental class is 76.55 and the mean post-test in control class is 70.55. The result of the statistical hypothesis testing found from p-value was 0.000. It is lower than the level significant of 0.05. If p-value ≤ from the level significant 0.05. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. The students were asked to do presentation related to the topics on course book without asked them to elaborate their technology skill and Balinese culture into one point of presentation that they got based on topics (Malita & Martin, 2010;Campbell, 2012;Schmoelz, 2018). This research was a Research and Development (R&D) which aimed at developing Local Wisdom based Balinese Digital storytelling through Blended Learning method as an innovative media for teaching writing at Information System Educational Program of ITB STIKOM Bali. The data were collected by using documentation technique, interview, observation, and questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively to find out the mean score, in which the mean score was categorized based on the criterion referenced evaluation table. This research found that, (1) In developing Local Wisdom Based Balinese Digital Storytelling Through Blended Learning Method required a chronologically steps, namely: observation, need analysis, designing prototype of the media, expert judgment, revising the product, field testing, analyzing the data and finalizing the final product, (2) furthermore, the result of the questionnaire filled by the students was 3.78, it represented that the implementation of local wisdom based digital storytelling through Blended Learning method could be categorized as good. The results of this study were highly expected can help both the teachers and the students in the process of teaching and learning writing narrative text.
