“…The present item analysis of the PVP Scale contributes to the evidence-base that suggests increasing the cut-off point should be increased to a minimum of 5 out of 9 (Adiele & Olatkun, 2014;Collins et al, 2012;Hart et al, 2009;Lemmens et al, 2009;Turner et al, 2012). In fact, based on the evidence presented here, it could perhaps be argued that the cut-off point be increased at 6 out of 9 criteria to categorize players as having a potential pathological problem.…”

“…The psychometric properties of the Spanish and English versions, from the 20 20 validity analyses, showed its unifactoriality (such as Hart et al, 2009;Turner et al, 2012) through two analysis techniques which achieved very similar results, with an adequate variance explained for a short explorative test (Reckase, 1979), and construct validity through associations with VGP patterns of usage related with time, as well as perception of the own VGP problematic and the significant others perception of the adolescent VGA (King et al, 2013b;Salguero & Morán, 2002 Topor et al, 2011: α=.83). …”

“…Only the PVP Scale (Salguero & Moran, 2002) demonstrated a factor structure that had been confirmed in a follow-up study (Hart et al, 2009) in the absence of contrasting findings. Among those instruments with more than two published studies, the CUIS was the only test of which dimensionality had not been assessed.…”

“…Los videojuegos suponen una vía de escape, ante situaciones estresantes o que producen ansiedad o agotamiento, como consecuencia de una vida ajetreada. Por ello, resulta insólito que la dependencia que, esta nueva forma de ocio, produce en los adolescentes españoles resulte similar a la generada en los de los Estados Unidos, aunque éstos últimos se encuentren mucho más influenciados por las nuevas tecnologías (Hart et al, 2009).…”
