Effects of oleic acid

Abstract: Content of fatty diet plays a significant role in the development and progression of chronic diseases. Generally, it is accepted that unsaturated fatty acids are beneficial. According to literature review, oleic acid (C18:1n-9) has positive impacts on various tissues in general and has negative impacts rarely. Olive oil composition includes high amount oleic acid. Considering of the effects of oleic acid on the cardiovascular system, it was determined that decreasing of the myocardial infarction rate, platelet… Show more

“…A rapidly growing literature illustrates the benefits of PUFA, in relieving cardiovascular, inflammatory conditions, heart disease, atherosclerosis, autoimmune disorders, diabetes and other diseases 29 . According to the study of K. Karacor and M. Cam 30 , the high level of oleic acid in oil compositions, has positive effects on human health especially by In view of the slight difference in the lipid composition of the two oils, ultrasonic assisted extraction which is easy, fast, more economical and leads to sterile oils proved to be the most adequate.…”

“…Oleic acid (OA) is the most abundant MUFA in human nutrition, while linoleic acid (LA) is the major dietary PUFA (Baum et al, 2012;Choque et al, 2014). OA exerts a cardioprotective function, its supplementation being correlated with a lower risk of heart diseases (Karacor, 2015). LA was described as an essential fatty acid (Choque et al, 2014;Serini et al, 2011), being associated with a beneficial effect on the cardiac function, as well as reduced levels of plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and liver fat, and improved hepatic metabolic status (Marangoni et al, 2020).…”

“…Oleic acid (OA) and linoleic acid (LNA) are mono-unsaturated omega-9 FA and poly-unsaturated omega-6 FA, respectively. Toxicity profiles of FA demonstrate positive impacts on various tissues as they generally pose no significant safety concern but have only low systemic toxicity potential ( Burnett et al , 2017 ; Karacor & Cam, 2015 ).…”
