“…Aktar et al (2008) supplemented ½ MS and KC medium with banana pulp to compare their effects on the growth of D. nobile. However, in vitro propagation of orchid is highly dependant on the choice of genotypes (Islam et al, 2003). Establishment of a reliable cloning methodology for this orchid is important in terms of enabling the rapid propagation and production of a large number of high quality plants.…”

“…The use of organic additives and PGRs may add toward the development of a simple and economical plant culture (Islam et al, 2003). Numerous comparative analyses of plant responses to diverse types of cytokinin (BA and kinetin) have revealed that the presence of BA in the culture medium produces higher frequencies of induction and proliferation of PLB in some orchids, such as Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium Densiflorum, and Cymbidium aloifolium (Nayak et al, 2002;Sheelavanthmath et al, 2005;Luo et al, 2008).…”

“…Numerous comparative analyses of plant responses to various types of plant growth regulators and the addition of organic additives to the culture medium to promote in vitro growth and proliferation of orchid is a common practice (Ichihashi and Islam, 1999;Chai et al, 2002;Islam et al, 2003;Rahman et al, 2004;Arditti, 2008, George et al, 2008.…”

“…In the preceding report 5 , it was demonstrated that the addition of potato extract, corn extract and papaya extract at various concentrations to the New Phalaenopsis medium used as basal medium, enhanced the growth of the calli of the Doritaenopsis orchid, an intergeneric hybrid of Phalaenopsis (hybrid of Phalaenopsis and Doritis) and promoted the regeneration of protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) from the calli.…”
