Effect of Moringaoleifera Lam. on haematological and histopathological parameters in sodium flouride induced toxicity in wistar rats

Abstract: The present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of Moringa oleifera Lam. on haematological and histopathological changes in the liver and kidney in wistar rats, induced with sodium fluoride toxicity and vitamin C. Thirty six female wistar rats were divided into six groups (T 1, T 2, T 3, T 4, T 5 and T 6 ), each comprising of six rats. T 1 served as negative control which received normal saline only. T 2 served as positive control, received sodium fluoride @ 20 mg/kg b.wt. only, T 3 received fluor… Show more

“…A model for stimulating neurotoxicity in animals is the administration of sodium fluoride as described in [22]. In the present study, the administration of NaF caused an increase in total lipids, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, Causing a decrease in TAC, MDA, catalase, and SOD compared to the control group.…”

“…Rats were kept in stainless steel cages in hygienic conditions and fed for two weeks on a basal diet (BD) to adapt and supplied with adlibitum water. After a period of adaptation to the basaldiet, the rats were divided into 4 groups;Four diets were formulated first one contains basal diet as control (negative control),second one contain basal diet supplemented with 20 mg/kg b.wt sodium fluoride (positive control) [10], and the third one contains basal diet supplemented with 20 mg/kg b.wt + Moringa Oleifera 300 mg/kg,and fourth one contain basal diet supplemented with 20 mg/kg b.wt + Moringa Oleifera 500 mg/kg using stomach tube and fed to rats daily for 30days [10].…”

“…Patel et al (2014) reported significant alteration in the values of neutrophils, lymphocytes, total erythrocytes and haemoglobin, but within normal clinical range following single intravenous administration of marbofloxacin at 2.0 mg/kg in sheep. Kamble et al (2017) observed no significant alterations in hematological parameters in sodium flouride induced toxicity in wistar rats.…”

“…These data disagree with Modi et al, (2013) also detected no significant differences in RBCS and hemoglobin concentration after administration of marbofloxacin in sheep. Kamble et al, (2017) who observed no significant alterations in hematological parameters in sodium fluoride induced toxicity in Wister rat. Sadariya et al, (2010) reported that no significant changes in hematological paramters (Hemoglobin, RBC, WBC, MCV, MCH, MCHC, HCT and DLC) with marbofloxacin injection in rats.…”
