Abstract. This article explains the assistance provided to the Head of the Muhammadiyah Branch (PRM), Kadirojo, in mitigating natural and social disasters. The issue of disaster mitigation is one of the important variables in the process of reducing the number of disaster risks that are likely to occur. This includes the potential megathrust disaster in the southern part of the Java Sea, where the position of Palbapang village is within a radius of 7 km from the southern coast of Java. This step will be managed using an androgy approach, which explores the structured experience of the Kadirojo community related to disaster problems such as fires, earthquakes, infectious diseases, and social disaster problems. Meanwhile, the pedogogic approach is used to socialize the Kadirojo PRM management from a number of disaster mitigation experiences from communities outside Palbapang village and abroad. Focus Group Discussion and training will be carried out systematically in order to change the perspective of the community productively. According to the findings of this article, Muhammadiyah Kadirojo's Islamic teachings have not yet institutionalized disaster literacy, so it is still necessary to spread the message about it in order for it to become ingrained in people's minds.

Abstrak: Kejadian bencana dapat terjadi dimana dan kapan saja, tidak terkecuali di daerah industri. Kota Mojokerto dikenal sebagai salah satu daerah yang memiliki banyak industri di wilayahnya. Budaya sadar bencana dan pengetahuan tentang evakuasi korban menjadi penting untuk dimiliki para pekerja pabrik. Hal ini dalam rangka mengurangi jumlah korban jiwa manusia, kerusakan lingkungan, kerugian harta benda, dan dampak psikologis. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk menanamkan budaya sadar bencana dan peningkatan pengetahuan evakuasi korban pada pekerja pabrik. Metode yang digunakan adalah memberikan edukasi dengan pendekatan Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). Kegiatan dilakukan di PT Intidragon Suryatama sebagai salah satu industri sepatu terbesar di Kota Mojokerto yang diikuti oleh 37 partisipan. Hasil yang didapat dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah terdapat peningkatan pemahaman dan pengetahuan dari pekerja pabrik tentang budaya sadar bencana dan evakuasi korban, dari 57% berada pada kategori cukup menjadi 76% berada pada kategori baik. Pemahaman tentang materi tersebut penting untuk dimiliki oleh pekerja pabrik mengingat bencana dapat terjadi dimana dan kapan saja, sehingga membutuhkan kesiapsiagaan dalam upaya meminimalisir efek dan kerugian yang dapat ditimbulkan.Abstract: Disaster events can occur anywhere and anytime, including in industrial areas. The city of Mojokerto is known as one of the areas that has a lot of industry in its territory. Disaster awareness culture and knowledge about victim evacuation are important for factory workers. This is in order to reduce the number of human casualties, environmental damage, property losses, and psychological impacts. The purpose of this activity is to instill a culture of disaster awareness and increase knowledge of victim evacuation in factory workers. The method used is to provide education with a Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach. The activity was carried out at PT Intidragon Suryatama as one of the largest shoe industries in Mojokerto City, which was attended by 37 participants. The results obtained from this community service activity are that there is an increase in the understanding and knowledge of factory workers about disaster awareness culture and victim evacuation, from 57% in the sufficient category to 76% in the good category. It is important for factory workers to have an understanding of these materials considering that disasters can occur anywhere and anytime, thus requiring preparedness in an effort to minimize the effects and losses that can be caused.

Relationship between Teachers’ Awareness of Disaster Prevention and Concerns about Disaster Preparedness

Disaster preparedness in schools is critical for the health and well-being of students and staff. To enhance disaster preparedness, awareness of disaster prevention should be raised among teachers. The aim of the current study was to assess disaster prevention awareness among teachers and to clarify the relationship between disaster prevention awareness and concern regarding disaster preparedness. Teachers from special needs schools, for which disaster preparedness is particularly important, were selected. Study questionnaires were sent to 1310 schools for children with special health care needs across 47 Japanese prefectures. Five-hundred-and-thirty-one complete responses were obtained. The disaster preparedness in the schools was insufficient. Teachers were concerned about child management, life saving, life maintenance, evacuation shelter management, and school management. There was a positive correlation between disaster prevention awareness and concern about disaster (r = 0.217, p-value = 0.000). The disaster awareness scale items “A sense of crisis about disaster” and “Anxiety” were positively correlated with concern about disaster, whereas “Imagining the disaster situation” was negatively correlated with concern about disaster. The current study analyzed the relationship between disaster prevention awareness and concern regarding disaster preparedness, which is relevant for the practice and indicates the importance of imagination strengthening.
