Dietary vitamin E could improve growth performance, lipid peroxidation and non-specific immune responses for juvenile cobia (Rachycentron canadum)

Abstract: An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to establish the dietary vitamin E requirement of juvenile cobia. The basal diet was supplemented with 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 120 mg vitamin E kg À1 as all-rac-a-tocopheryl acetate. The results indicated that fish fed the diets supplemented vitamin E had significantly higher specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio, feed efficiency and survival rate than those fed the basal diet. It was further observed that vitamin E concentrations in liver increased significantly when… Show more

“…Based on PWG, the dietary thiamin requirement of young grass carp (242e742 g) was firstly estimated to be 0.90 mg/kg diet, which was lower than that based on LA (1.15 mg/kg diet). This result is similar with the study on dietary vitamin E requirement of cobia (Rachycentron canadum) [34].…”

“…PWG and LA are often used to estimate the nutrients requirement of fish [34]. Based on PWG, the dietary thiamin requirement of young grass carp (242e742 g) was firstly estimated to be 0.90 mg/kg diet, which was lower than that based on LA (1.15 mg/kg diet).…”

“…The WG and LA activity are often used to estimate the optimum supplementation level of nutrient components in fish [82,83]. Based on the quadratic regression analysis of WG and LA, the present study illustrated that the optimal levels of dietary GMP for juvenile red sea bream might be 0.48% and 0.45% respectively which is also inline with the most of the growth performance and health parameters of fish under present experimental condition.…”
