<p>Transmedia technology is a modern innovative system which scientists consider to be real communication revolution. Transmedia technology is investigated and actively implemented in different life spheres and social activities, such as mass media, journalism, marketing, culture, education etc. There is an urgent need to study the opportunities of using the transmedia technologies in art education, in particular in music teachers’ professional training. The implementing of transmedia technology in music teachers’ professional training contributes to the qualitative development of their professional competence, broadening of their outlooks, the improvement of artistic abilities, and professional skills. To study in detail both teachers’ and HEI students’ mastering of transmedia technology, the online survey “Transmedia Technology in Art Education” was held. HEI lecturers, secondary school Art teachers, teachers of Art school in Sloviansk, students of SHEI “Donbas State Pedagogical University” and Communal Institution “Pokrovsk Pedagogical College” took part in this questionnaire. The analysis of tests has proved the low level of acknowledgement about the essence of transmedia technology. However, it has demonstrated a high level of general technology knowledge and skills that makes it possible to implement the transmedia technology in educational process. We have revealed a number of issues which require the attention and further development.</p>

From Rigidity to Exuberance: Evolution of News on Online Newspaper Homepages

Since their emergence in the mid-90s, online media have evolved from simple digital editions that merely served to dump content from print newspapers, to sophisticated multi-format products with multimedia and interactive features. In order to discover their visual evolution, this article conducts a longitudinal study of the design of online media by analyzing the front pages of five general-information Spanish newspapers (elpais.com, elmundo.es, abc.es, lavanguardia.com, and elperiodico.com) over the past 25 years (1996–2020). Moreover, some of their current features are listed. To this end, six in-depth interviews were conducted with managers of different online media outlets. The results indicate that the media analysed have evolved from a static, rigid format, to a dynamic, mobile, and multi-format model. Regarding the language used, along with increased multimedia and interactive possibilities, Spanish online media currently display a balance between text and images on their front pages. Lastly, audience information consumption habits, largely superficial and sporadic, and the increasing technification and speed of production processes, means that news media have lost in terms of the design part of the individual personality they had in their print editions. However, they maintain their index-type front pages as one of their most characteristic elements, which are very vertical and highly saturated.

El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar una propuesta educativa orientada al aprendizaje del lenguaje visual en diseño gráfico que recurre a la imitación como herramienta para mejorar la alfabetidad visual (entendida como la facultad para interpretar y construir imágenes o la capacidad para comunicarse eficazmente mediante códigos visuales). La investigación emplea una metodología cualitativa de observación participativa basada en un estudio de caso —la asignatura Comunicación Visual, perteneciente al grado universitario en Periodismo, durante el período 2019-2021— para evaluar el desarrollo de dos publicaciones de la especialidad de diseño editorial (revista y libro), siguiendo la técnica del Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos. Los resultados, atendiendo a la excelencia de los trabajos y al óptimo rendimiento académico, avalan la utilidad de la copia y de las herramientas digitales para la inspiración (Pinterest) en la alfabetización visual de los alumnos. Las conclusiones apuntan al especial interés de este método en la formación del diseñador gráfico, principalmente en las fases de enseñanza más tempranas y en aquellas materias centradas en el aprendizaje del código visual; a la positiva repercusión de la copia en la comprensión de los aspectos comunicativos del diseño gráfico; y, finalmente, a la importancia del software de autoedición en el dominio de los conceptos básicos del lenguaje visual (la tipografía, el color y la composición, fundamentalmente).
