Cylindromicin from Arctic-Derived Fungus Tolypocladium sp. SCSIO 40433

Abstract: The fungus strain SCSIO 40433 was isolated from an Arctic-derived glacier sediment sample and characterized as Tolypocladium cylindrosporum. A new compound, cylindromicin (1), and seven known secondary metabolites (2–8) were isolated from this strain. The chemical structures of these compounds were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses. Cylindromicin (1) featured a 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran skeleton. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was assigned via interpretation of key Nuclear Overhauser Effe… Show more

“…The (−)-4-hydroxysattabacin metabolite from its crude extract had an anti-melanogenic effect in a human epidermal model and they identified it as a new natural melanin reducing agent ( Kim et al, 2017 ). Khan et al (2021) found that cydromicin (1), a secondary metabolite produced by the Tolypocladium sp. (Fungi) strain SCSIO 40433 isolated from arctic glacial sediments, also showed tyrosinase inhibitor activity.…”

“…Tolypin is also a peptide mixture [27]. Like kojic acid, cylindromicin is a significant bioactive inhibitor of tyrosinase [28]. Tolyprolinol, a dipeptide produced by Tolypocladium sp.…”
