This study aimed to assess the association of salivary pH, dental caries, and body mass index (BMI) in middle school students in Eastern Makassar. Material and Methods: This study included 60 middle school students from two schools in eastern Makassar. Data were collected by filling out a questionnaire, weight and height measurement, dental examination and saliva collection. Body mass index was calculated by dividing weight and height in kg/m 2 , saliva was collected by draining method, and salivary pH was measured with Saliva-Check Buffer (GC Japan). Decay Missing Filled-Teeth (DMF-T) indexes are used to assess dental caries. Statistical analysis was performed by chi-square and ANOVA with a significance of 0.05.Filled-Teeth (DMF-T) indexes are used to assess dental caries. Results: This study showed that overweight and obesity are more prevalent in female students than male students. Salivary pH in underweight students and overweight and obese students were lower compared to normal BMI students, while DMFT score in underweight, overweight and obese students was higher than the normal BMI students. Conclusion: It can be concluded that body mass index (BMI) have a significant association with salivary pH and DMFT score.

Objectives: Mandibular bone is generally formed by intramembranous ossification. Bone density mandible can be assessed from the trabecular pattern. In the elderly, the hormone cortisol affects bone formation through bone resorption by blocking calcium. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of cortisol levels to mandibular bone density in elderly women and men. Materials and Methods: This study was an analytic survey, where the population was determined from secondary patient data in the form of 31 panoramic radiographs and 31 laboratory results of cortisol examination, the research sample was divided into two groups. The bone density of the mandible was assessed from the trabeculae of the neck condyles region of the right and left. Density assessment using the ImageJ software program on panoramic radiographs was an examination that is often done in dentistry. Results: This study showed that the lowest density was in the group of women over 60 years. The results of the t-test with the independent sample obtained a p-value of > 0.05, which indicated there is no significant difference. The negative correlation value indicated that the relationship that occurs is opposite, p-value <0.05 which indicated the lower bone density, the higher cortisol level. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, there was a correlation that with the increasing age of both women and men there was an increase in cortisol levels and a decrease in mandibular density.

Objectives: The purpose of this research was to describe radiographic density of mandibular bone in calcium channel blocker anti-hypertensive drug users. Bone density in the mandible is assessed from the trabecular. Panoramic radiograph is a routine examination that is often done in dentistry that can be used to assess changes in quality in the form of changes in bone density in users of anti-hypertensive calcium channel blockers Material and Methods: This research is a descriptive study of 21 panoramic radiographs of calcium channel blocker anti-hypertensive drug users aged 40-75 years. Panoramic radiograph archive density checks in the distal region of the foramen mentale and the mandibular angular region using software image j, with the final result was the percentage between bone and marrow. Results: This research showed the average radiographic density in male using calcium channel blocker antihypertensive drugs was 18.81% and the average radiographic density in female was 20.92%. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study found that the average radiographic density of female patients taking antihypertensive drugs calcium channel blockers was higher than male.
