Correlation between mandibular trabeculae bone density on panoramic radiograph and body mass index of men aged 5-35 years old

Abstract: Objective: Finding the correlation between mandibular trabeculae bone density on panoramic radiograph and body mass index of men aged 5-35 years old. Material and Methods: The population of this study was male patients aged 5-35 years old who performed panoramic radiography at Radiology Installation of Faculty of Dentistry at Dental Hospital Padjadjaran University (UNPAD) with a total of 62 samples. ImageJ software was used to calculate the bone density and BMI values were calculated using the BMI formula. Res… Show more

“…One of the modalities used to see changes in the trabeculae is a panoramic radiograph. 4 Panoramic radiograph is an imaging technique that is often used to evaluate the entire tooth as well as the jawbone. Several studies use panoramic radiographs of teeth to assess bone quality in the form of changes in density that can be influenced by certain systemic conditions.…”

“…1,2 Densitas tulang pada mandibula bisa dinilai dari pola trabekula. 3 Trabekula dianggap berperan penting dalam pencitraan pada radiograf, dan hilangnya trabekula dapat menyebabkan penurunan densitas pada radiograf. Salah satu modalitas yang digunakan untuk melihat perubahan pada trabekula adalah dengan radiograf panoramik.…”
