This study presents a sustainability competencies map (SCM) for Business Administration and Management (BAM) disciplines as a tool to support education in sustainability at the university level. The study describes in detail the design and elaboration of the map based on the competencies defined by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and complemented with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations. In addition, to externally evaluate the proposed SCM, we conducted a series of interviews with top managers and founders of five organizations that vary in size and industry. As the main contribution, the SCM for BAM studies is presented, containing 58 learning objectives. The qualitative research framework performed to obtain evidence from the interviewees showed that the holistic dimension of the proposed SCM is highly valued by the interviewed practitioners. Additionally, the SCM’s division of competencies into three levels of achievement was considered practical and helpful to measure them. Finally, the interviewees expressed concerns regarding the implementation of the SCM in real classroom, calling for the necessity of special training for teachers and flexibility of higher education system. Reinforced by the interviewees’ opinions, we believe that the SCM for BAM education presented here will facilitate the design of different methodologies by the teaching staff to guide students towards compliance with the 17 SDGs in 2030.

Methodology of Complex Evaluation of Sustainable Development of Socio-Environmental-Economic Systems

This feasibility study proposes a new approach to the classification of data array concerning sustainable development of socio-environmental-economic systems (hereinafter referred to as SEES) in the area of large river basins. The developed methodology allows carrying out the integrated assessment and forecasting the principal results of the territorial entities functioning and is based on the socio-environmental-economic conditions and the use of multidimensional comparative analysis of the development of individual territories, which, in its turn, allows considering the regional characteristics of their development. The aim of the study is to determine the conceptual and methodological foundations of integrated assessment of SEES sustainable development in the area of a large river basin. The methods of logical analysis (deduction), non-parametric statistical multidimensional estimation (PATTERN method) and econometric modeling were used in this work. The novelty of the proposed approaches consists in the development of theoretical and methodological guidelines for further improvement of the mechanism of integrated assessment of SEES formation, forecasting its development and sustainable functioning at the regional level. The obtained results allow to rank the territories according to integrated assessment, as well as to develop regional strategic programs.

Development of knowledge management in integration management systems in order to increase the organisational performance of construction companies

The previous research on integrated management systems has varied. Most of them used a structural equation model (SEM) or consisted of a literature review. These studies have not yet presented a relationship between integration management systems at the practical level in order to improve organisational performance. These studies have not included knowledge management in their implementation. Research on knowledge management is needed in order to minimise the inefficiency of an organisation. The level of maturity of knowledge management in construction companies is only about 50% (at the practiced level). The biggest obstacle to the realisation of an integrated management system is a lack of knowledge management. Knowledge management is a key standard in integrated management and sustainability reporting. This study aims to identify the most important variables needed in the context of the development of knowledge management and integrated management systems through RII analysis, including developing a job description through RAM RACI R (Responsible), A (Accountable), C (Consult), and I (Inform).
