Comparative evaluation of different obturation techniques in primary molars: An in vivo study

Abstract: Aim:The study was undertaken to compare the filling quality of a 30 gauge cannula (NaviTip™, Ultradent Inc., South Jordan, UT, USA) used on a pressure syringe with a lentulospiral in primary molars. Materials and Methods: Thirty mandibular first and second primary molars in 28 healthy children of both sexes in the age group of 4-8 years were included in the study. All pulpectomy procedures were performed by one investigator. Before obturation, the subjects were randomly selected for the two obturation techniqu… Show more

“…Only six of the clinical studies explicitly aimed at comparing different obturation techniques. [18][19][20][27][28][29] All the included in vitro studies were conducted to compare different obturation methods. 2,3,30,31 Of the 20 included clinical studies, 16 were randomized clinical trials, and four were cross-sectional.…”

“…The ideal obturating technique should ensure a good apical seal without any underfilling or overfilling . Traditionally, zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) has been the material of choice for filling root canals of primary teeth due to ease of handling, operator feasibility and cost‐effectiveness.…”

“…NaviTips showed poor results when compared to Endodontic Plugger and lentulo spirals when Endo las was used (Pandranki et al, 2017). Khubchandani reported that Navitip controlled voids production and produced the best apical seal (Khubchandani et al, 2017).…”
