Objective: To identify the prevalence of common mental disorders and associated factors in school adolescents. Method: Cross-sectional study with 230 adolescents from a public school in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. We used a questionnaire and an assessment scale for common mental disorders. The data were processed in STATA, version 12. Results: The prevalence of common mental disorders in schoolchildren was 52.2%. Multivariate analysis identified a positive association with statistical significance between the condition and the variables:female gender (PR = 3.06; 95% CI: 1.77-5.4), black race (PR = 2.08; 95% CI: 1.04-4.16),having a boyfriend (PR = 2.07; 95% CI: 1.06-4.03) and smoking cigarettes once in a lifetime (PR = 2.88; 95% CI : 1.31 - 6.31). The school increase (OR = 0.52; 95% CI: 0.29-0.91) was identified as a protective factor. Conclusion: Female gender, black race, having a relationship, and having smoked cigarettes are factors that increase the chances of adolescents having common mental disorders.

O trabalho infantil está presente na sociedade há muito tempo e, em algumas culturas, tornouse natural ver crianças e adolescentes trabalhando. No entanto, é um grande problema, pois ao ser inserida no mercado de trabalho desde muito cedo, a criança acaba por perder sua infância e transforma-se, precocemente, em um adulto, passando por uma transformação física e psicológica mais cedo do que é o natural. Nesse texto, buscou-se identificar as modificações acontecidas no trabalho infantil sequentes ou desenvolvidas em decorrência da pandemia da COVID-19. Foram pesquisadas as bases de dados e bibliotecas virtuais de âmbito nacional e internacional buscando-se estudos referentes ao trabalho infantil durante o surto pandêmico; entretanto, pouco foi encontrado sobre a situação da criança/adolescente trabalhador na pandemia, embora esse tipo de trabalho parece ter aumentado, em muitos países, incluindo o Brasil, possivelmente decorrente da situação econômica deficitária já existente e incrementada pela pandemia, sendo que, em sua maioria, as famílias recorrem aos jovens (crianças e adolescentes) para auxiliar na sua própria manutenção. O trabalho infantil e suas perspectivasPresente na sociedade há muito tempo e em algumas culturas, tornou-se natural ver crianças e adolescentes trabalhando. Essa forma de trabalho é aquela que priva as crianças de sua infância, seu potencial e sua dignidade e que é prejudicial ao seu desenvolvimento físico e mental. Refere-se a atividade laboral que é mental, física, social ou moralmente perigosa e prejudicial para as crianças, que interfere na sua escolarização, que as priva da oportunidade de frequentarem a escola, que as obriga a abandonar a escola prematuramente ou exige que se combine frequência escolar com trabalho excessivamente longo e pesado (1) .É considerado um grande problema, pois a criança ao ser inserida no mercado de trabalho desde muito cedo acaba por perder sua infância e transforma-se em um adulto

Objective: To describe the characteristics of reported cases of child labor in general and to compare official reported child labor data with data on sexual exploitation and occupational accidents involving children and adolescents between 2017 and 2021. Methods: Descriptive study based on data from the Notifiable Health Conditions Information System about child labor, work accidents and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents aged between 5 and 17 years. Annual disease notification rates were calculated and grouped by mesoregions of the state of Amazonas. Results: From 2017 to 2021, there were 312 reports of situations of child labor, being 46.8% involving children and 53.2% involving adolescents. Of these notifications, 20 corresponded to child labor itself, 141 to child and adolescent sexual exploitation, and 151 to work-related accidents involving children and adolescents. The South and Center regions were the ones that most underreported child sexual exploitation as child labor. The Southwest and South mesoregions, on the other hand, were the ones that most underreported work accidents involving children and adolescents as child labor. Conclusion: Child labor in Amazonas basically stems from sexual exploitation and, even though it is underreported, it is frequent, although uneven between regions. Confronting the problem in the state necessarily involves improving the information system in order to acknowledge the actual dimension of the problem and then define intervention measures and logistics.
