“…In this medium, the amount of trans-resveratrol was 1.1-fold higher than the control (Fig 1H ). There is only one study conducted on the effects of exogenous brassinosteroid applications on trans-resveratrol in grapevine (Babalık et al 2020). Researchers indicated that trans-resveratrol content increased 2.67-fold compared with control vines.…”

“…Immobilized cells were added to 50 ml liquid MS nutrient media containing 1 mg L -1 BAP, 0.1 mg L -1 2,4-D and 30 g L -1 sucrose with different concentrations of 24-eBL (0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1 mg L -1 ). While choosing these concentrations, the previous study we made on vineyards (Babalık et al 2020) is taken as reference. The 24-eBL stock solution was prepared by dissolving in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).…”

“…The enhancement in their activity on exposure to EBL might be due to the effect of EBL on transcriptional or translational regulation of genes responsible for their functioning (Bajguz and Hayat, 2009; Mohammadi et al ., 2020). Some previous reports have shown a significant augmentation in antioxidant enzyme activities on exposure to EBL in different plant species (Babalık et al ., 2019; Kretynin et al ., 2019; Ahanger et al ., 2020). Furthermore, EBL application reduces the oxidative damage caused by drought stress via enhancing the activities of antioxidant enzymes, relative water content, soluble proteins, and reducing the synthesis of MDA which lead to increase in photosynthesis and ultimately improve plant growth and yield (Filek et al ., 2018; Tanveer, 2019).…”

“…Brassinosteroids application has significant role in the enhancement of nitrate reductase in various crop plants [6,33,159,160]. Babalik et al [161] reported that the application of 24epibrassinolide (24-eBL) in grape plants increased yield, quality, and antioxidant compounds. The concentration 0.2 mg L −1 of 24-eBL applied to vines at three times (7 days after berry set, day of change of colour of the berries, 30 days after veraison) was the most suitable application providing the highest yield and some quality properties such as cluster weight, berry weight, and specific gravity.…”
