Body shape has an important role in playing basketball. The position of players in basketball can be determined by their height. There is some information that can be inferred from height. Body mass index, the ratio of leg to body length, and the ratio of arm length to height. This is valuable information for extracurricular coaches because they can find out if a player has the ideal body shape as a basketball player. Through this research, it can be seen the body shape of the basketball extracurricular participants in the junior high school category. This research also helps extracurricular trainers to identify extracurricular participants who have the ideal body shape. The method used in this research is a survey using a measuring tape, measuring height and weight. The samples involved in the study were 104 boys and 48 girls with an age range of 12-15 years. The measurements taken were height, weight, arm span, and sitting height. The measurement results show that 55% have an ideal height, 34% have a normal body mass index, 5% have an ideal leg length, and 99% have an ideal arm span. Basketball extracurricular participants at private junior high schools in Sukoharjo have the potential to be hampered in performing movements using the legs and potentially easier to perform movements using the arms.

Pendahuluan: Permainan basket membutuhkan komunikasi dan teknik kepada setiap anggota tim untuk mencapai keberhasilan dalam sebuah pertandingan. Terdapat beragam teknik dalam permainan basket, salah satunya chest pass. Chest pass membentuk kerjasama tim dalam permainan sehingga terjadi momentum permainan yang baik. Kemampuan chest pass yang baik dapat diperoleh dari kemampuan otot untuk kerkontraksi melawan tahanan dari otot disekitarnya, atau dapat disebut sebagai kekuatan otot lengan. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode potong lintang, dimana penelitian dan pengukuran dilakukan satu kali.Terdapat 90 sampel dalam penelitian ini dengan pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Pengukuran dengan push and pull dynamometer dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui kekuatan otot lengan dan wall bounch test untuk mengukur kemampuan chest pass. Hasil: Uji hipotesis dengan Chi-square didapatkan p sebesar 0,000 (p<0,05) dan nilai korelasi r = 0,79 yang memiliki korelasi yang sangat kuat dan searah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan terdapat hubungan kekuatan otot lengan dengan kemampuan chest pass. Sampel yang memiliki kekuatan otot yang baik memiliki kemampuan chest pass yang baik.

Traditionally in basketball, five specific positions have been distinguished, often due to the anthropometric characteristics of the players. In recent years, different research has emerged that tries to break with this paradigm, giving rise to different classifications of players based on other characteristics that are more closely related to the actual game of basketball. The aim of this research was to determine the load profiles of players according to internal and external load values. An observational design was used, in which 12 professional players from the Spanish Men’s First Division Basketball (ACB league) team participated, obtaining data from all the training sessions carried out over two microcycles. All players were equipped with WIMUPRO™ inertial devices, using a UWB system for the players’ positioning in indoor spaces. A principal component analysis with varimax rotation was performed to group the variables and determine the profiles. The results showed four different player profiles: versatile, explosive, dynamic, and fast players. Within these load profiles are included players from the five specific positions according to the traditional basketball classification, possessing distinct anthropometric characteristics among themselves. These results allow strength and conditioning coaches to train players physically in a more efficient way, using small-sided games in mid court, or games in full court more adequately, and achieving greater specificity and applicability in their exercises and tasks.
