Bis{2-amino-2-oxo-N-[(1E)-1-(pyridin-2-yl-κN)ethylidene]acetohydrazidato-κ2N′,O1}nickel(II)

Abstract: In the title compound, [Ni(C9H9N4O2)2], the NiII ion is situated on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two O and four N atoms from two tridentate {2-amino-2-oxo-N-[(1E)-1-(pyridin-2-yl-κN)ethylidene]acetohydrazidate ligands in a distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal, N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into columns in [001]. The porous crystal packing is further stabilized via π–π interactions between the pyridine rings of neighbouring molecules [centroid–centroid distance… Show more

“…Selected bond distances and angles are listed in Table 2. observed for similar compounds which crystallize in their keto forms [37,7]. Those distances are comparable to the values found for a derivative which has an oxalate group [38].…”

“…The properties of these complexes are evaluated in superoxide catalysis [2,3] and magnetism [26]. It is in this perspective that we have studied these types of ligands and reported their transition metal complexes [7,27]. Continuing our work in this field, we obtained ligands (I) and (II).…”

“…The molecular design can be modulated to link in different manners metal ions resulting in original architectures. In the course of our studies on the chemistry of transition metal compounds, we have prepared and characterized a number of chelates containing N and O donor sites [11][12][13][14][15]. Considerable interest is accorded to the development of multidentate ligands containing different binding sites such as N, O or S [16,17].…”
