“…Some other compounds in these species might have similar activities with berberine, jatrorrhizin or palmatine, and the main effective compounds of the species in the present study were in Table 4. According to the previous Phytochemical and Pharmacological studies, some other ingredients in these species, such as swertianolin, gentianine, picroside I, coptisine, tetrandrine, columbamine, magnoflorine, quercetin, rutin, salicylic acid and phellodendrine, also had the similar activities like anti-infection, anti-virus, anti-inflammation, antioxidation and so on (Table 4) (Ye and Wu, 1984;Cuellar et al, 2001;Chen, 2001; State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2002a; Qi et al, 2003;Chen et al, 2003;Wu et al, 2007;Kang et al, 2007;Kamath et al, 2009;Li, 2009;The Pharmacopoeia Committee Editorial Department, 2010;Huang et al, 2011;Chen et al, 2012;Li et al, 2013;Wang et al, 2014;Mak et al, 2014;Lu et al, 2014). So the uses of these species without berberine, palmatine or jatrorrhizin as Huang-lian by local people might be reasonable.…”
