“…Therefore, it has specific adaptation to optimum conditions (Badu‐Apraku et al., 2012; Makumbi et al., 2015). BM709PRO2 (C4) has been very croppe in Brazil and is the highest‐yielding hybrid under high N input among 114 commercial hybrids planted in Brazil (Zuffo et al., 2021). The two methods also identified 92V2144 (H147) as the highest‐yielding experimental hybrid under favorable environments.…”

“…Thus, we suggest that the evaluation and selection of high-yielding and stable tropical maize cultivars across Southeastern Brazil be performed in at least one environment and over two seasons, but low N stress must also be considered in the evaluation of hybrids, mainly under drought stress, because hybrid performance under N stress was very affected by drought stress in our study. According to Zuffo et al (2021), N stress environments must be included in the screening of maize hybrids for a general adaptation to variation in N level and to maximize selection gains, mainly across tropical environments.…”

“…In Brazil, even corn is grown in temperate and/or tropical conditions; around 75% of production comes from regions with a tropical climate, where the grain yield potential of cultivated areas is significantly reduced due to the occurrence of abiotic stresses [5][6][7]. Among the abiotic stresses, the low availability of nitrogen in the soil [8,9] is one of the main factors contributing to the grain yield reduction of several crops, including popcorn (Zea mays var. everta).…”

“…За вирощування кукурудзи на зерно важливим у її живленні є не тільки кількість внесених поживних речовин з добривами, а й співвідношення між ними. Збалансоване живлення дає змогу уникнути подовження другої половини вегетації і сприяє збиранню врожаю в оптимальні терміни [8].…”
