Gamification is a tool to promote student motivation in Higher Education. This teaching experience proposes the implementation of gamification, specifically Breakout Games, as a way to reinforce and assimilate certain concepts related to Urban Planning among Architecture students, while playing and working collaboratively. The activity involves the design of different games based on concept associations, which must be correctly solved in order to escape from the classroom, as well as a final evaluation based on students’ experience. Breakout Games format has been positively received by students, who express an overall satisfaction with this teaching experience, as they identify key aspects and detect difficulties in completing the tasks, thus reinforcing concepts from the course. La gamificación en la enseñanza universitaria es una herramienta para promover la motivación del alumnado en las aulas. Esta experiencia docente propone la incorporación de la gamificación y, en concreto, del formato Escape Room como medio para, a través del juego y el trabajo colaborativo, reforzar el aprendizaje y la asimilación de algunos conceptos relacionados con el Urbanismo entre los estudiantes de Arquitectura. La actividad incluye el diseño de diferentes juegos basados en la asociación de conceptos, los cuales deben ser resueltos correctamente para poder escapar del aula, así como una evaluación final por parte de los estudiantes sobre su experiencia. El formato Escape Room ha sido valorado positivamente por el alumnado que se muestra satisfecho, de forma general, con esta experiencia docente, y que les ha permitido identificar aspectos clave, así como detectar dificultades en la realización de las pruebas, reforzando así conceptos de la asignatura.

The aim of the Department of Architectural Theory and its teaching activity at the Architecture Degree is to think and invite students to think about architecture. In this process, providing students with unbiased knowledge is mandatory and requires a fundamental shift to consider how to support and, at the same time, reestablish the links with the historical time to which contents refer. This conference paper presents a pedagogical experience that addresses a double implementation in the teaching of our field of knowledge. On the one hand, the mainstreaming of gender perspective, and on the other hand, the use of a mobile application (NAM) as an autonomous learning tool. This software tool brings together works of female architects produced over the postmodern time in Spain. The digital dissemination of this knowledge is a result of the investigation carried out by the research group on architecture and gender to which the lecturers of Architectural Theory belong. El principal cometido del área de conocimiento de la Composición Arquitectónica en el Grado en Fundamentos de la Arquitectura es pensar y hacer pensar sobre dicha arquitectura. En este proceso, la aportación al alumnado de un conocimiento desprendido de sesgos es ineludible y requiere una reflexión sobre cómo sostener y, a la vez, restablecer los vínculos con el tiempo histórico al que sus contenidos hacen referencia. Esta comunicación presenta una experiencia pedagógica que aborda una doble implementación en la docencia del área, por un lado, la incorporación de la perspectiva de género, y por otro, el empleo de una aplicación de software (NAM) como herramienta de aprendizaje autónomo que está vinculada con la línea de investigación de arquitectura y género llevada a cabo por el mismo grupo investigador del que forma parte el profesorado y con la que se registra la producción de las arquitectas españolas durante la posmodernidad.

Transcorreguts diversos anys de la impartició de l'assignatura Estètica i Història del Disseny es percep que els alumnes gaudeixen especialment amb les activitats pràctiques i els seminaris, però els suposa un gran esforç consolidar i relacionar els continguts teòrics, per la qual cosa durant els cursos 2021- 2022 i 2022-2023 s'ha introduït una activitat que empra l'aprenentatge basat en el joc (ABJ) per dissenyar un joc de cartes entre tots, anomenat “Design in Time”, que enllaça diferents activitats presencials i serveix com a eina d'aprenentatge, a alhora que incrementa la motivació i participació dels estudiants. El joc s'implementarà en cursos successius amb noves edicions que completin la matèria d'estudi, així com amb una versió digital. A més de la repercussió que pugui tenir l'ABJ a la mateixa assignatura, es considera que l'experiència es podria extrapolar a altres assignatures de l'àrea de Composició Arquitectònica o afins. After several years of teaching the subject Aesthetics and History of Design, it is perceived that students particularly enjoy the practical activities and seminars, but it is a great effort for them to consolidate and relate the theoretical contents. Therefore, during the academic years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, an activity has been introduced in the subject that uses Game-Based Learning (GBL) to design a card game among all, named "Design in Time", which links different face-to-face activities and serves as a learning tool, while increasing the motivation and participation of students. The game will be implemented in successive courses with new editions that complement the contents to study, as well as with a digital version. In addition to the impact that the ABJ may have on the subject itself, it is considered that the experience could be extrapolated to other subjects in the area of Architectural Composition or related subjects. Transcurridos varios años de la impartición de la asignatura Estética e Historia del Diseño se percibe que los alumnos disfrutan especialmente con las actividades prácticas y los seminarios, pero les supone un gran esfuerzo afianzar y relacionar los contenidos teóricos, por lo que durante los cursos 2021-2022 y 2022-2023 se ha introducido una actividad que emplea el Aprendizaje Basado en el Juego (ABJ) para diseñar un juego de cartas entre todos, denominado “Design in Time”, que enlaza diferentes actividades presenciales y sirve como herramienta de aprendizaje, a la vez que incrementa la motivación y participación de los estudiantes. El juego se implementará en sucesivos cursos con nuevas ediciones que completen la materia de estudio, así como con una versión digital. Además de la repercusión que pueda tener el ABJ en la propia asignatura, se considera que la experiencia podría extrapolarse a otras asignaturas del área de Composición Arquitectónica o afines.
