Application of Calcium and Sulfur in the Severity of Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae

Abstract: Among the diseases that manifest in the cultivation of oats (Avena sativa), leaf rust, caused by Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae, has been shown to be the most destructive, being responsible for the decrease in quality and grain yield. Nutritional balance can contribute to plant resistance to disease. In order to evaluate the effect of different doses of calcium and sulfur on leaf rust severity and on the productivity of the IPR Afrodite white oat cultivar, an experiment was installed in the municipality of Po… Show more

“…With the increased demand for food arising from the growing increase in the world population, it creates a challenge for the producer to produce more in the same space (Gabardo et al, 2020;Macoski et al, 2021;Clock et al, 2021). Alternative techniques and management come as a solution to this problem, one of them is the rational use of fertilizers to increase productivity and reduce costs.…”

“…Currently, Brazil is considered one of the largest food suppliers in the world (Saath & Fachinello, 2018). Knowing that natural resources are limited, more sustainable food production methods are essential to ensure food security for the constantly growing population (Gabardo et al, 2020;EMBRAPA, 2021;Macoski et al, 2021;Clock et al, 2021).…”
