The aim of this study was to identify the influence of social networks in the therapeutic itinerary of people affected by venous ulcers. Qualititative research was conducted in the outpatient clinic of a public hospital in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Data were collected from January to February 2013 by means of semi-structured interviews with 14 people affected by venous ulcers. Content analysis provided the following categories: The family worries with me; I get lots of help from friends and neighbours, and I do it myself. Results revealed some elements of social networks that influence choices and continuity of treatment and care of patient with venous ulcers. It is therefore necessary for nurses to familiarize themselves with these social networks and work with them to strengthen the partnership in care.

RESUMOA insegurança alimentar é um problema que atinge milhares de pessoas no mundo, e pode ser ainda mais expressiva nas comunidades tradicionais quilombolas. Este estudo tem como objetivo descrever a situação de (in) segurança alimentar de uma comunidade quilombola do norte de Minas Gerais. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e transversal, desenvolvido durante o segundo semestre de 2012 por meio da abordagem em visita domiciliar. Investigou-se o nível socioeconômico, a participação em programas de transferência de renda, o estado nutricional dos indivíduos, o consumo de frutas e verduras e a prevalência de (in) segurança alimentar. Constatou-se predominância de indivíduos analfabetos, beneficiários do Programa Bolsa Família e nível socioeconômico baixo. O excesso de peso foi prevalente em 25% dos indivíduos entrevistados. O consumo alimentar de frutas e verduras foi reportado pela maioria em frequência de uma a três vezes ao mês. A insegurança alimentar esteve presente em 83,3% dos indivíduos entrevistados. Conclui-se que a situação de insegurança alimentar e nutricional é altamente prevalente na comunidade quilombola. Dessa forma, ressalta-se a importância da implantação de ações e políticas públicas que garantam melhoria nas condições de vida e saúde. Palavras-chave:Segurança alimentar e nutricional. INTRODUÇÃOAs comunidades quilombolas são grupos populacionais remanescentes de antigos quilombos, constituindo uma representação da resistência dos negros brasileiros. Estão localizados em várias regiões do país, especialmente nas áreas rurais, apresentam um relativo grau de isolamento geográfico e vivem desigualdades sociais e de saúde marcantes (1) . São caracterizados como grupos que lutam pela melhoria das condições de vida e pela conservação de seus costumes, crenças e tradições. Essas comunidades são marcadas por processos históricos de discriminação e exclusão e enfrentam uma realidade socioeconômica muito diferente da população brasileira (2) . (4) . No Brasil, as comunidades quilombolas vivenciam uma situação de gravidade no que se refere às condições de vida e segurança alimentar e nutricional. Quando se discute Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional (SAN), falase de condições de vida e nutricionais adequadas, considerando as suas múltiplas dimensões. A Lei Orgânica de Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional descreve que a SAN consiste na realização do direito de todos ao acesso regular e permanente a alimentos de qualidade, em quantidade suficiente, sem comprometer o acesso a outras necessidades essenciais, tendo como base práticas alimentares promotoras de saúde, que respeitem a diversidade cultural e que sejam social, econômica e ambientalmente sustentáveis (5) . Considera-se ainda que fatores como a falta de posse da terra, a ausência de uma renda monetária, o aumento de doenças, as questões ambientais, a marginalidade e o analfabetismo
