Antioxidant activity of Phaseolus L. species seeds with different coat colour

Abstract: The aim of the research was to screen the antioxidant activity of mature seeds of related bean species using the collection samples of the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine: Phaseolus vulgaris L., P. multiflorus Lam., P. lunatus L. and P. acutifolius A. Grey which have different colouration of their seed shell. The determination of antioxidant activity was carried out using the improved method of the stable radical DPPH•: methyl alcohol in the eluting solution was replaced by non-toxic eth… Show more

“…However, detailed studies advocate that variability in phenolic content is more due to genotype than A0 (t = 0) -A0 (t = 120) A1 (t = 0) -A1 (t = 120) Inhibition % = 1 -x 100 seed color. In addition, environmental conditions can also affect the phenolics and flavonoid content of the seeds (Bezuhla et. al., 2018;Pitura and Arntfield, 2019;Rodríguez Madrera et al, 2020).…”
