Antibacterial activity of selenium nanoparticles synthesized using Maranta arundinaecea root extract

Abstract: Maranta arundinaecea is otherwise known as arrowroot. It promotes weight loss, treats diahorrea and stimulates the immune system. As Arrowroot is rich in starch, it helps in good digestion by mild laxative in regulating the bowel movement. Also it reduces stomach pain and bloating. Selenium is a semi conductor so it is used in making electrical wires. It is used in potent chemotherapy. It is an anti-cancer agent due to its invasion of apoptotic pathway and cell cycle arrest. Usually the arrow root extract is a… Show more

“…Hence, further research should be conducted to gather evidence regarding the potential of silica nanoparticles and its antimicrobial activities. Previously the metal nanoparticles were widely used in the antimicrobial applications and its based products [43][44][45][46] and in our study the polymer nanoparticles shows good activity.…”

“…was verified by the white color of the aerial mycelium; in addition to that, there were positive readings for reverse side pigments, arabinose, xylose, mannitol, sucrose, and raffinose, and there were negative readings for melanoid pigment, soluble pigment, inositol, fructose, and raffinose which could be compared to other compounds obtained from the root extracts. [ 14 ] The amino acids of glycine+, Meso DAP+ present in the cell wall and cell wall sugar of arabinose, and the cell wall type index (I/D) are play a vital role in the identification of Micromonospora species. Further, commonly biosynthesized compounds from the marine actinobacterium showed potential antioxidant properties.…”
