-Introduction. The preliminary study of the post-harvest quality of the fruit from strawberry cultivars in a new growing region is necessary for both farmers and consumers. The objective of the present study was to evaluate strawberry cultivars at different harvest times with regard to fruit quality aiming at the selection of possible parents for breeding programs for cultivation in the tropical humid conditions of the city Datas, in Minas Gerais State (Brazil), and in other regions with similar soil-climatic conditions. Materials and methods. The strawberry fields were cultivated on the Mape Frutas Farm, located in the city of Datas-MG. Eight cultivars ('Aromas', 'Camarosa', 'Campinas', 'Diamante', 'Dover', 'Festival', 'Oso Grande', and 'Toyonoka') were assessed in a randomized block design with a split-plot in time. Four replicates and three harvest times (June, August, and October 2012) were evaluated. Fruit from the different cultivars were analyzed for their physicochemical and antioxidant properties. Results and discussion. There was a genetic variability and the predominance of genetic factors over environmental effects for the evaluated traits. Fruits harvested at the end of the crop cycle (October) had the highest levels of total reducing sugars, vitamin C, phenols, anthocyanins, carotenoids, soluble solids, and total antioxidant activity. Cultivars Camarosa, Festival, and Toyonoka showed better fruit quality. Conclusion. Based on the genetic dissimilarity and fruit quality, the cross between 'Toyonoka' and 'Camarosa' or 'Festival' is indicated for the genetic improvement of strawberry in the region and other places with similar soil-climatic conditions. L'étude préliminaire de la qualité post-récolte des fruits du fraisier dans une nouvelle région de culture est une étape indispensable tant pour les agriculteurs que pour les consommateurs. Yield and nutrition of greenhouse-grown strawberries (Fragaria AbstractIn strawberry, potassium fertilization has been little studied, which difficult management strategies for an increasing yield and understanding the use of this nutrient in strawberry crop. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of sources and rates of potassium (K) fertilizers on yield, K level and agronomic traits of strawberry cv. Camarosa fruit, carried out under greenhouse conditions. A randomized in a completely block design with four replicates in a factorial arranged 6x3 (six rates of potassium x three sources of potassium fertilizers), was performed. Fertilizers sources used were as follows: potassium sulphate, potassium nitrate and potassium chloride in 0, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 kg ha -1 K 2 O doses. An increasing potassium rates have allowed a higher potassium content in leaves and fruits. A higher potassium content in leaves was obtained by KNO 3 (11.70 g kg -1 ). Yield, fruit number per plant and potassium extraction per plant, increased linearly with the evaluated doses and fruit average weight at a dose of 183 kg ha -1 . There was no significant difference among potassium content in leaves. Strawberry production is maximized through potassium fertilization, independent of the source origin.

ResumoEste trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito de diferentes agentes carreadores (Maltodextrina 5DE, Maltodextrina 10DE, Goma arábica e Capsul ® ) nas características físico-químicas (umidade, densidade, solubilidade, teor de antocianinas e atividade antioxidante) da polpa de morango desidratada por atomização e armazenada à temperatura ambiente por 90 dias. A utilização dos diferentes agentes carreadores resultou em pós com valores de densidade aparente entre 0,40 e 0,52 g/cm 3 e umidade menor do que 2,5%. Todas as amostras foram altamente solúveis, mas os pós obtidos com a Maltodextrina 5DE e com a Goma arábica apresentaram menor higroscopicidade. As isotermas de sorção obtidas foram do tipo III e o modelo de GAB foi o que melhor se ajustou aos dados experimentais. A amostra produzida com goma arábica apresentou a maior concentração de antocianinas e, consequentemente, maior valor de atividade antioxidante, tanto imediatamente após a secagem como ao longo de 90 dias de armazenamento. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que a goma arábica foi o agente carreador mais adequado para a produção de polpa de morango em pó. SummaryThis study aimed to evaluate the effect of different carrier agents (5DE Maltodextrin, 10DE Maltodextrin, gum Arabic and Capsul ® ) on the physicochemical characteristics (moisture content, density, solubility, total anthocyanins and antioxidant activity) of strawberry pulp processed by spray drying and stored at room temperature for 90 days. The use of different carrier agents resulted in powders with bulk densities ranging from 0.40 to 0.52 g/cm 3 and moisture contents below 2.5%. All the samples were highly soluble, but the powders obtained with 5DE Maltodextrin and gum Arabic were less hygroscopic. The sorption isotherms were of type III and the GAB model was the model that best fitted the experimental data. The powder produced with gum Arabic had the highest anthocyanin content and consequently the greatest antioxidant activity value, both immediately after the drying process and during the storage period.
