The road side infrastructure plays a vital role for any Vehicular Ad-hoc Network for implementing a rich set of applications like traffic monitoring and management, road disaster mitigation etc. This is the reason that efficient communication between the vehicles and the road side infrastructure is required. The application under consideration is providing a zero traffic lane (Z-Lane) for an ambulance. The scenarios are implemented with the help of Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) which is a road traffic simulator based on Krauss Mobility Model. For the normal working of the said application, road side infrastructure broadcasts alert messages informing the vehicle drivers to vacant the lane. The problem addressed in this research work is the scenario where no infrastructure is present in the range of ambulance. In this case, the trigger from the ambulance must reach the nearest infrastructure as early as possible. For this purpose vehicle to vehicle communication is used. After analyzing various routing algorithms Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing algorithm is chosen for the said communication. The AODV protocol has significant amount of end to end delay. The research work aims to modify AODV to reduce the Route REQuest (RREQ) packet generation. This is done using the geographic position of the neighboring node. The simulation results of the implementation of modified AODV shows that the number of RREQ packets reduces drastically and in turn end-to-end delay also reduces. The network traffic simulation is done with the help of Network Simulator -2.MObility generator for VEhicular network is used to generate the scenario in SUMO and converting it into NS-2 readable form. Routing is continuous challenging issue in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) given the intrinsic characteristics of these networks, especially limited resources and high mobility. Indeed, for any routing protocol to achieve acceptable network throughput performance it should adapt its operation to VANET high frequency topology change dynamics. In this paper an enhancement of such routing protocols is proposed using the Route Life Time (RLT) policy which purpose is to maintain the established route as long as possible in VANET likely dynamic environments. Indeed, the well-known VANET routing protocols AODV and DSR are enhanced to their respective versions baptized AODV-RLT and DSR-RLT. A realistic VANET model is defined for the purpose of simulation experiments and both single and a comparative evaluation of the proposals is performed. These experiments show that both of the AODV-RLT and DSR-RLT exhibit good performance as far as the network throughput was considered. The comparative study lightens that the DSR-RLT protocol overcomes the AODV-RLT to achieve a higher network throughput.

MAODV protocol that uses algorithms PGB on the route discovery process aims to reduce the number of nodes that do rebroadcast. Network Simulator 2 (NS-2) is used to simulate the MAODV-PGB protocol usage and Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) is used to simulate the vehicle mobility. The results of the testing MAODV-PGB protocol compared with MAODV protocol. Testing is done with a few scenarios to test the performance of MAODV-PGB protocol. Result of experiment showed the improvement of MAODV-PGB protocol performance which indicated by the increased value of the PDR, decreasing average of end-to-end delay, decreasing of routing overhead and increasing the goodput ratio. Therefore the use of MAODV protocol on VANETs can reduce the congestion caused by the broadcast RREQ packet.Keywords: MAODV, protocol, routing, simulator I. PENDAHULUAN ERKEMBANGAN teknologi informasi yang begitu cepat memudahkan manusia untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang segala hal, tak terkecuali informasi yang berkaitan dengan lalu lintas.
