The archipelagic country of Indonesia is populated by the densest marine biodiversity in the world which has created strong global interest and is valued by both Indigenous and European settlements for different purposes. Nearly 1000 chemicals have been extracted and identified. In this review, a systematic data curation was employed to collate bioprospecting related manuscripts providing a comprehensive directory based on publications from 1988 to 2022. Findings with significant pharmacological activities are further discussed through a scoping data collection. This review discusses macroorganisms (Sponges, Ascidian, Gorgonians, Algae, Mangrove) and microorganism (Bacteria and Fungi) and highlights significant discoveries, including a potent microtubule stabilizer laulimalide from Hyattella sp., a prospective doxorubicin complement papuamine alkaloid from Neopetrosia cf exigua, potent antiplasmodial manzamine A from Acanthostrongylophora ingens, the highly potent anti trypanosomal manadoperoxide B from Plakortis cfr. Simplex, mRNA translation disrupter hippuristanol from Briareum sp, and the anti-HIV-1 (+)-8-hydroxymanzamine A isolated from Acanthostrongylophora sp. Further, some potent antibacterial extracts were also found from a limited biomass of bacteria cultures. Although there are currently no examples of commercial drugs from the Indonesian marine environment, this review shows the molecular diversity present and with the known understudied biodiversity, reveals great promise for future studies and outcomes. Candida albicans and Malassezia furfur are fungal pathogens that can cause skin infections. This disease can be easily transmitted from one individual to another. The use of antibiotic drugs can cause pathogenic fungi to become resistant. Therefore, there is a need for the development of new antifungal substances, one of which comes from mangrove sediment bacteria. This research was conducted with the aim of obtaining bacterial isolats from mangrove sediments that have the ability to fight the fungal pathogens Candida albicans and Malassezia furfur. The method in this research is descriptive exploratory laboratory which includes isolation sampling and isolat purification, morphological characterization, screening, antifungal activity test and biochemical test. The results of this study were obtained 3 bacterial isolats that have antifungal activity against the fungal pathogens Candida albicans and Malassezia furfur. The results of the identification of biochemical tests showed that the isolat S.ISP2 was identified as the genus Pseudomonas; isolat S.ISP4 identified as Genus Moraxella; and isolat KJ.MA1 identified as Genus Vibrio Candida albicans dan Malassezia furfur merupakan patogen jamur yang dapat menyebabkan penyakit infeksi kulit. Penyakit ini dapat dengan mudah ditularkan dari satu individu ke individu lainnya. Penggunaan obat antibiotik dapat mengakibatkan jamur patogen menjadi resisten. Oleh karena itum eprlunya ada pengembangan zat antijamur baru yang salah satunya berasal dari bakteri sedimen mangrove. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan bakteri isolat dari sedimen mangrove yang memiliki kemampuan untuk melawan jamur patogen Candida albicans dan Malassezia furfur. Metode pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif eksploratif laboratory yang meliputi sampling isolasi dan purifikasi isolat, karakterisasi morfologi, skrining, uji aktivitas antijamur dan uji biokimia. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah didapatkan 3 bakteri isolat yang memiliki aktivitas antijamur terhadap jamur patogen Candida albicans dan Malassezia furfur. Hasil identifikasi uji biokimia menunjukkan bahwa isolat S.ISP2 teridentifikasi sebagai Genus Pseudomonas; isolat S.ISP4 teridentifikasi sebagai Genus Moraxella; dan isolat KJ.MA1 teridentifikasi sebagai Genus Vibrio.

The community uses cassava leaves for cooking because of their high protein content, β-carotene, Fe, Mg, Zn, S, Ca, Zn, Ni, and K. Cassava leaves contain various secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, steroids, anthocyanins, and anthraquinones. The antioxidant activity of flavonoid compounds in cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz) has been successfully investigated. This study consisted of six stages: the preparation of ethanol extract of cassava leaves, phytochemical screening, determination of total flavonoid content in the extract, isolation of flavonoids, and purity testing of flavonoid isolates using the chromatographic method, identification of the structure of pure flavonoid isolates using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with the addition of a shear reagent, FTIR, and LC-MS/MS. As well as test the antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The yield of ethanol extract from cassava leaf in this study was 14.67%. The results of the phytochemical screening showed that the cassava leaves and the ethanol extract of cassava leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, quinones, steroids, phenolics, and triterpenoids. The total content of flavonoids in the ethanol extract was 35.71 mg EQ/g extract. UV-Vis, FTIR, and LC-MS/MS analysis revealed that the flavonoid isolate was quercetin. The results of the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract and BC isolate showed IC50 of 81.76 ± 0.505 mg/L and 77.85 ± 4.708 mg/L.
